Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"JONNNIE GREER, BETTER KNOWN AS (BIG JOHNNIE) LOCATED AT 1549 JUNIPER ST, NORFOLK, VA 31225, LPR LIMOUSINE SERVICES OR BIG JOHNNIE AUTO DETAILING SHOP

Mr. Greer made a verbal agreement to repair the engine in my 2002 Ford Escort for $1200 on or about 6 January 2012. He asked that I give him $600 down payment to cover parts and machine work and pay the remaining balance after repairs were finished. Mr. Greer sends a wrecker to pick up vehicle and claimed to have started working on vehicle a couple days later. I took him $460 that following week as agreed upon (see attached receipt). Mr. Greer gave me a receipt for the down payment and later I took him $140 more in cash but were unable to find that receipt. About a month later, after numerous phone calls, Mr. Greer finally said that he had finished the repairs on my car and it ran great. He consulted with my Grandfather Leon Coleman residing in Huntsville, Alabama mostly regarding the mechanics of the repairs and when vehicle would be ready...he's an automobile mechanic himself (contact number 256-603-2869). Since that time, Mr. Greer would promise week after week to drop my vehicle off at my house but never followed through. After about 6 months he claimed there was an issue with the care and he was taking it to a buddy of his to get it resolved, later said he was out of town in Chicago that his father had died, which was when my Grandfather just happen to be in town to assist me in resolving the problem with my car. Mr. Greer continued to avoid me...stopping answering my call and eventually changed his telephone number. I rode by his shop and noticed my car was sitting there and it appeared that nothing had been done to it. So, I call the local police and asked if I they could meet me there so I could pick up my car and have it towed somewhere else to have it repaired. So, the local police told me I could...so I had the vehicle towed to my house. My neighbor who has a mechanic background tried to start the vehicle but it wouldn't attempt to start. After he took a look at the vehicle, he indicated that it appeared that no mechanical work had been performed on the engine. So, I sent Mr. Greer a certified letter requesting he refund my $600 back ASAP (see attached letter). In addition, I am requesting that Mr. Greer compensate me for insurance premiums of $432.95 for the period of time after he had promised my car would have been repaired. Also for pain and suffering...causing a financial burden on faimly, undo stress, pain and suffering with transportation getting my babies to and from doctor's appointments, going to grocery store and other required traveling for my family. So, for pain and suffering requesting that Mr. Greer pays me $2000. It has been several months and still no response for Mr. Greer and in excess of a year since he ran out with my money. I am the spouse of a young soldier (Navy Man) stationed at the Naval Base and has two young childrens and feel like Mr. Greer intentionally took advantage of me and I just want him to refund me my $600 I paid for repairs, $432.95 for auto insurance premiums and $2000 for pain and suffering a total of $3,032.95. Hopefully my determination to continue to hold him responsible for his criminal act will deter him from taking advantage of innocent people in the future."

  • Have you filed a police report regarding this? What Mr. Greer did was illegal as he committed fraud by having you pay for a service that was not performed. Check into legal services that may be available for spouses of military personnel. If there are none, you may want to file a small claims suit. Generally the costs are minimal and your court fees, if you win, are generally assigned to the defendant. However, if he doesn't show for court and/or doesn't pay, then you have to be willing to absorb the cost of those fees as well. You might try to locate him to see if he is doing business elsewhere. I did a search with the Virginia State Corporation Commission and it appears the LPR Limousine Service name is fictitious.
