Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I worked with Dwayne A. Beal for a few weeks over the summer. I had damage to the front of my roof and needed repairs.I called my insurance company to file my claim in January 2013. I made Dwayne aware that the back of my roof had just been repaired back on July 23,2009 so there was no need for the whole roof to be done.I also told Dwayne that the wood was bad in the front of my house because of the water damage to my upstair ceiling in the hallway. Dwanye saw the damage for himself. He said that he was not going to replace the wood, that he would just lay the shingles over the existing cause the insurance company is going to want to see the whole roof done. when if he would have done his job and properly inspected my roof he would have seen that the decking needed to be replaced. I felt that the saw what needed to be done and just didn't do the work. I paid him 6,990.00 just to lay brand new shingles over two layers of old shingles. they messed up my satelite dish mounting on my roof, I told him of this matter, but they failed to re-install properly on july 30,2013 i had to call Directv to have the remount the dish. When the service tech came got on the roof to remount dish the dish fell over. he said thank God your children were not out here they could have gotten hurt. I never signed anything at the completion of the job. It took two weeks to cash the remaining funds from the insurance check. Dwayne wrote me a personal check and for two weeks it was insuffient funds and thing pending in his account. I asked Dwayne what was going on with my money, he said he was having some financial problems and that he would get me my money. He then ask me if there was anything he could do for me around the house to make up for all the troubled he'd caused me and my family. so he cut my grass, the vacant house next door and even got a job doing my neighbors garage across the street he PAINTED MY BREAKFAST NOOK in my kitchen. after the job i haven't seen Dwayne to sign anything. the inspector came out Aug 28,2013 and said there was uneven roof decking after champion restoration had finished the job and i needed gutter attachment. i fixed the gutter , but didn't understand the uneven roof decking. So i called insurance company to get understanding. i had to stop and think of how to fix the problem, then i thought nothing better than to call the company i just paid 6,990.00 to. dwayne just as it is refused to fix the problem that he was paid 6,990.00 to do in the first place. So now that Champion Restoration LLC. Dwayne A. Beal is refusing to fix the problem i recieved another letter saying that by Jan 7, 2014 if the issue is not resolved i will lose my homeowners insurance. After BBB contacted Dwayne he called me on Nov. 1, 2013 said brother and sister in Christ don't do things like this to each other and to call BBB back and recant my story because it would affect his business for three years ......... well he must be the DEVIL because he know he messed up and should have replaced the roof decking because of the water damage but he chose the easy route and probably took what he needed from me to pay off some doubt if he already said he had financial issues when i contacted him for the job. I bet 6,990.00 sounded good ,so i was the prefect candidate. I just paid Champion Restoration 6,990.00 for making my life miserable and now i had to hire another roofing company to fix what they got paid for. Dwayne kinda convinced .me that with him just putting the shingles over two existing layers of bad and shingle would work but for 6,990.00 something didn't sound right. If he represented his company the way he should've he would have done what it took to fix the issue. the Insurance company inspector was not hearing that Dwayne wanted to meet with the inspector they just wanted evidence that Champion Restoration whom i hired came out to fix the issue. I never found a letter or anything outside my door saying that Dwayne had even been to my residence to talk with me or fix this issue. it think Dwayne is a coward because that's what cowards do they talk a good talk and manipulate people to get what they want and take peoples money. I just paid Champion Restoration LLC. Now i have to find another Roofing company to do the job right. I know that i am not the only customer that Dwayne has done this to. I also know that he will pay for the wrong he has done against me and my family. while him and his family is living good and comfortable, i'm trying to figure out how i will come up with the money to get my roof repaired properly. after paying Champion Restoration LLC. 6,990.00 just in July 2013. with Dwayne knowing that my back roof had just been replaced in July 2009 . i figured that he would repair the front of my roof as i requested and just match the existing shingles but he chose to do the whole roof which i know was not neccessary. Son: Joshua Beal
Champion RestorationL.L.C Joshua was the contact agent that sent Dwayne his father to my house. Dwayne ripped me off 6,990.00 in July 2013 he put 3 dimensional shingles over top of 3 existing layers of shingles which caused uneven roof decking on my roof. I had to hire another roofing company to fix what Dwayne A. Beal refused to and pay our another 8,285.00 for a brand new roof. Dwayne A. Beal is very unprofessional and a thief. Joshua Beal never contacted to see if the work was satisfactory, there was no thank you for your business, no completion of work contract signed nothing. When Dwayne A. Beal had me to sign a affidavit that released the funds right into his hands to spend the money however he chose to. So because he already took the money before the work was done he told the BBB that he took a vacation with his family on the 4 of July 2013 he had me sign the affidavit June 11,2013 the bank said he cashed the check June 21,2013 so that was perfect timing cause he would not leave my house until I signed the check over to him thinking he was going to have the check sent back to me from the BANK OF AMERICA. He took advantage of me and paid himself in full. Dwayne A. Beal knew that my roof needed to be replaced and refused to do the work properly. He called me November 1,2013 after I contacted the BBB and told me to recant my complaint against him cause it would affect his business for 3 years , but he was not concerned about my homeowners insurance canceling if he didn't return and fix the damage he caused to my roof. Bad business practice and a rip off. I'm sure I'm not the only person Dwayne A. Beal has done this to. I want my money back. Joshua Beal nor his father Dwayne A. Beal have yet to respond to my Lawyers request.

  • This is despicable behavior for a contractor and its contractors like these that give this industry a bad name. I am a co-owner of a roofing company in the same town as Champion Restoration or Daystar as they changed their name, which is a suspicious activity in the contracting business. Advise to anyone reading the Claimants breakdown of what happened to him, never ever pay for work that has not been completed. I believe this contractor mislead the homeowner about his insurance check. Always deposit all funds received by the insurance company into your own bank, then pay the contractor after the work is completed satisfactorily. You should always sign a final invoice and pay the contractor at that time. I'm really sorry this customer had a bad experience with a dishonest company. An expensive lesson learned, but thank you for telling your story to help the next innocent homeowner.
