Claimant says:
"I drove to New York and back on I95 with cruise control on in my 2012 Santa Fe limited 4 cylinder engine and got only 21 MPG when it calls for 26 MPG. I drove 3,362.9 miles and put in 149.46 gallons of fuel. I wrote to Hyundai about this because of a newspaper article stating that Hyundai cars are getting a refund because of poor gas mileage. I applied for this refund and was told that my car was not on the list for this refund. I feel that if many of Hyundai cars are getting poor mileage all of Hyundai cars should be covered. Most of Hyundai cars have the same engine and that what controls gas mileage to most extent. They put on the sticker the mileage per gallon we are suppose to get and we are not getting this. This is false advertisement to the consumer."

  • As you can see they Advertise that the Santa Fe will get 26 MPG and this mileage was on my sticker when I received the car. I see this as false advertisement on Hyundai part. This is why Hyundai gave rebates to their other cars because of bad gas mileage

  • This is the Hyundai that I bought from Hyundai of New Port Richey that only gets 21 MPG and not 26 MPG like advertised. They use any tactic to sell cars now a days

  • While there has been a settlement offer advertised for certain Hyundai and Kia models for misrepresentation of gas mileage estimates, the investigation is ongoing by the Environmental Protection Agency. There is the possibility that more vehicle models could be included at a later point after the investigation is concluded. However, advertised MPG for vehicles are estimates, and there are several factors that can contribute to changes in average miles per gallon. While there is an ongoing investigation, things such as oil, air filters, and tire pressure can all affect average miles per gallon.
