Claimant says:
"I had a mutual fund ( Benham Capital Management) that was absorbed by e*TRADE in 1985. I was informed that at age 59 1/2 , you can begin withdrawals, so I elected to close out my acct.entirely, & they sent me a check for the proceeds( $300+ ),but it was made out to my former name,"Wang J.Kirov". I requested that they re-issue the liquidated assets in my real name,"jeffrey Wang", but they said I would have to furnish papers documenting the name change, & subsequently stopped payment. SInce I do not live in Oklahoma anymore,& do not know if the Lawton attorney is still alive , or not, I cannot accomodate e*TRADE. I went down to their S.F. etrade office & furnished my Driv.License & SOcial Security benefits statement,& they said no dice. Although I agree that this is a rather common dispute, I received no response from their New Jersey Headquarters( they sent some form letters). If they had an online complaint dept., or a CEO that was accessible, they certainly don't advertise it. Is the financial culpability w/ the bank, dept.store, credit union, or other fly by night businesses, or the customer who loses , or fails to keep records?(court order name change?). I wish to resolve this issue in a timely manner, as opposed to dragging this on for months on end, as per their management philosophy.

  • Are you going to file a defamation lawsuit as a way of redressing reputational harms done by a ripped off ex-customer? That presumes the party in question has a reputation.

  • I could understand if the funds were escheated to California/New Jersey, or some worthwhile charity, I'm sure anyone could get on board w/ that. The fact that the money is reverted to the coffers of e*Trade to fuel their "deCaprio/Wall Street/ferrari/cocaine/ heroin lifestyle somewhat irks me. But I live in san francisco, so what do I know....

  • PeopleCLaim Restaurant--....and going down to their financial district office was a waste. A bunch of buttoned-down "wolf of Wall Street" wannabees. THey knew their stuff. Not egregious, just humiliating experience......Not as bad as getting shot in a theatre for TEXTING. I've had rotten service in restaurants in Oklahoma,too.
