Claimant says:
"In early 2014 I contracted with a company called Keys Windows and Doors to replaced 10 windows and 1 sliding glass door with Impact windows and doors. These windows are made by a company called ECO Window Systems, I selected there Ecoguard Series 200 Windows. I selected ECO due to its advertiesment of "Complete Protection for your home" it's says further "Eco Window Systems' impact resistant windows and doors provide several benefits. These are just a few:

On July 1, 2015 my home was broken into thru one of the new ECO windows. When I called ECO that morning I told them what had happened and they told me that they didn't warrant against breakin's and hung up the phone. I then had to find a company to come out and board up the window and order a new peace of glass. When that company came out one of the workers said "In all of my 20+ years i've never seen a window fail like this" I asked him what he was talking about and he said sir this window "failed" the glass is NOT supposed to come out of the frame like this.
I knew that I was in for a battle with ECO on this. I made a few calls around and was told about a company named Engineering Express. I called them and spoke with one of the head's of the business. I told him what had happened and he told me that the glass itself is to stay in the frame of the window and not come out. At this point I hired the company to come out and due an investigation due to the fact that I could NOT get ECO to come out and at least look at what happend. Eng. Exp. came out and found that the window DID IN FACT FAIL. The glass along with it's "100% of it's glazing" came right out of the frame and NOT one spec was left on the frame of the window. So a few weeks later Eng. Exp. sent me a letter as to what they found. I sent a copy of that letter along with a short notice of what I needed from ECO to make things right. I wanted ECO to replace all 10 windows and while they were being made I wanted one of the experts from Eng. Exp. to oversee the process of my windows being made. I also wanted them to pay me 29k for my damages and losses due to the break in. I made this request due to the fact that the "window failing" made it very easy for the "intruder/s" to get inside my home. I never received anything back from ECO. I then hired an attorney at 2500.00 and as I find out now they only thing they wanted is my money. I fired the attorney. So now I'm left with trying to get some help and I'm putting this story out on the web. This is NOT only what happened to me but this IS A SAFETY PROBLEM ALSO. There could be thousand of people "thinking" that they are safe it a storm comes thru and it's quite possible that there window could "blow right out of the frames" this is clearly an manufacture issues that ECO is "hiding" behind and I WILL NOT LET THEM GET AWAY WITH THIS. THE PUBLIC NEEDS TO KNOW THIS ASAP OR ELSE SOMEONE COULD BE HURT OR KILLED!!!!!!! Please help me recover my losses and get the word out that there is a great possibility that these windows could blow right out of the frames.
As you can see I even filed a complaint with Miami-Dade and got know where...... they told me that ECO has a NOA and thats all the needed to know. They are NOT interested in the safety of others that may have purchased defective windows from ECO. My god what is this world coming to. I have moved to the Deland, FL area."

  • Can you attach the engineering report or a statement from the company? Burglars will always find a way to get in, but I'd feel pretty uncomfortable about having hurricane-grade windows that didn't hold up.
