Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"On April 2, 2014, I hired this Company to do a basic cleaning service to a newly purchased empty house. I spoke with Jill. She assured me that they would do the job I asked for. A crew arrived about 4:30 pm when I had expected them to be there at 3:00 pm. They left around 6:00 pm. When I thought they had finished we (my daughter and I) noticed that the ceiling fans were dirty with bugs in the light cover. They only feather dusted the fan blades, no moisture was use to clean anything. The window sills were still dirty. The vent covers were still dirty. They have left a wad of paper towels in the toliet. The only 2 blinds in the house were filthy. None of the cabint shelves had not been wiped. The top of the refridgerator and inside the refridgerator were filthy with dead bugs in the fridge. The bathroom floors were not cleaned. It seemed that they had only wiped down the outer surface of the refridgerator and cabinets and vaccumed and nothing more. I am a senior citizen and I hired this company believing that the job would be done as I was assured they would do. I paid them $150 for this. When I called Jill at CornerStone to complain, her husband Steve came back the next day and only removed the wad of paper towels from the toliet and refused to do anything more. Everyday since then, I have been cleaning the house doing all the things that Jill had assured me that they would do. I am on a fixed income and I am so upset over being ripped off and having to do the work that I paid CornerStone Cleaning to do. I took pictures of the filth they left behind and I am still not done cleaning what they were supposed to do. They are rude, unprofessional and very lazy workers. I'd like to know what did they do in that time, in the house, other than vaccuum and wiped the outer cabinet surfaces. I see nothing more. My daughter gave them the cash before I was able to look at all the work that was supposed to be done. I would like my money back because I feel that I have been robbed. This company need to be stopped. They are not right."

Sound like you got a bargain! Wow, I can't find any service that will do move-out cleaning for $150. let alone a house cleaning. I've worked many times with this company and use them frequently. I'm 99% satisfied with the results of their cleaning abilities. They will work with you, but you have to be in your right mind. Please, just make a phone call. What is the problem?... you post a gripe thinking you will get cleaning for free?

  • Did the company specifically state that the kitchen cabinets would be wiped out? If so, that should certainly have been done...and in all honesty, for a move-in, it's really kind of basic. As a former real estate agent and as a frequent mover, I consider wiping out cabinet interiors to be absolutely essential for move-in and move-out cleaning jobs. It's terribly frustrating when you move into a new home and have to clean before you can even unpack, which is exactly why you'd hire a cleaning company.

I did see a comment about the claimant not having communicated; he or she specifically mentions having called the owner and nothing much having come of it.

I would be interested to know whether this company provides a spec sheet for move-in and move-out cleaning jobs or whether it's all left vague. The services I used in Georgia and Florida all had a check list that was provided when bidding for a job. Then I received the checked-off list along with the invoice at the end. Seems like best practice to me.

  • My question is for the claimant - but cornerstone is free to respond too.

Can you outline what, if any of the work was done to your satisfaction ?  I think you'd be entitled to a refund for any work not done correctly, but you'd owe them something for whatever work they did correctly- assuming that was anything.  seems pretty shoddy from your description.   Can you add the photo's onto this claim that show the condition of your place after they "cleaned"?

I'll suggest a formal solution after you respond.

    Thanks

  • My experience with this company is that over a year ago there was a change in ownership to a corporation.  You are dealing with people who do not even exist at this address.  Why on earth with all the positive comments would you be the ONLY one to post a complaint from 2 years ago.  EVER Hear of a phone?   Cornerstone isn't likely to go broke over giving you $150. but why should they.  You received a service and are still whining after they came back out and tried to please you.  Yikes.   Get a life.

  • I've used this company for 5 years now.  I have never had a problem getting anything resolved because they do the job right the first time.  This is a large company with a dozen employees, all of whom are licensed and bonded.  The corporation is easy to get to come out.  You have to communicate your needs.  Looks like you were looking for something for nothing.  I always have received a fair price and a large team does my cleaning when I have homes on the market.  As a Realtor, this is the ONLY company I trust in my homes because they are honest, do the job right, and FAST!
