Claimant says:
"i went to the dentist to have a tooth extracted, gave my insurance card and was told that my insurance was a bad one and i would have to paid the bill up front and a check will be sent to my directly from the insurance. I paid the 400.00 dollars that he requested. I then get a statement from the insurance company that a check for 289.00 was issued to the dentist, and the balance of 111.00 is due. I went to the office with all the paperwork and was told no the extra 289.00 was his and will not return it to me. I called the insurance company and was told that the paperwork that was send to them did not request the check be paid to me."

  • I had informed you that I could not accept MetLife's fee for extraction and that I would charge you $400 for the procedure. No one is arguing about that. You paid the $400 and as I said to you prior to beginning the procedure, I would direct MetLife to pay whatever benefit that they are going to pay for the procedure directly to you. That is precisely what was done and if you have not received the payment from MetLife for the extraction as of yet, I am sure that you will receive it shortly. But I did not charge you anything additional for the examination and x-rays, which is my practice's policy. I billed that directly to MetLife. I cannot determine what your insurance company pays. Again, I accepted their payment for the exam and x-rays and whatever they will pay you for the extraction, I am sure that you will receive it shortly and you can call them to make certain that that check is coming to you. I apologize if there was any misunderstanding.
