Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"The promise made by TruGreen to guarantee a green lawn is completely false. When they came out to treat my lawn the first time they killed it (see attached photo's). I contacted the company and asked for someone to come out and explain what was going on; the regional manager came out and told me I needed to consider planting a different type of grass, Bermuda. My yard continued to get worse after the second treatment so I contacted them again, this time I was told it needed to be aerated and they would schedule someone to come do it. The technician that came out told me something completely different than the regional manager so there was a contradiction. TruGreen sent out a young man who claimed it was his first day or first time aerating a yard, that was obvious since had to help unload and load the machine. When it started it was really obvious he was new at it since the machine seemed to be getting away from him and it was very uneven and even hitting some of the landscape bricks. I had the individual stop before he hurt someone or damaged some property. I contacted TruGreen and expressed my dissatisfaction and cancelled my service and stopped payment from my credit card. I did pay for the initial service, however I was not going to pay for an incomplete and poor service. I played phone tag with the company several times before being able to reach the company and explain I was not going to pay the $120.00 for a service that did not meet expectations nor what I would considered was promised by the sales representative.

I continue to receive bills from TruGreen so I contacted them to explain my dissatisfaction. I explained several time to customer service and accounts payable employees and they understood my dissatisfaction and made notes for a manager to contact me. After several attempts I finally made contact with a service manager "Gene". He was very aggressive and boisterous about not waiving the fee for a service I considered I did not receive. He kept telling me he sent people out to re do it and I turned them away. I only personally turned them away once in person since I had already had redone my lawn on my own a couple of months prior. He was very upset about my voice mail being full; I do not consider voice mail to be determining factor in this at all; it is about killing my lawn and not providing what was promised. He made it clear he already turned the $120.00 into claims and hung up on me. I attempted to call back however did not get through to the office; placed on hold for eternity.

Since TruGreen is going to go the route of turning this into claims and putting me a dissatisfied customer through having to file formal complaints, I believe it is only fair others customers and potential customers are aware of the behavior and treatment they can expect. Also the claim of being yard experts is not evidenced by the service you will get once you sign on the dotted line. The service and contract is certainly misrepresentation as you can see in the attached photo's. You will notice the uneven aeration attempt along with all the dead spots that were not dead prior to TruGreen spraying my yard.

I hope to save someone else the turmoil of this and the dissatisfaction; if not I hope you have lots of time to do alot of yard work yourself and pay for a service that is not what you can expect.

Save yourself the headache and check other companies or better yet a small mom and pop lawn service would probably provide a more personable service. TruGreen is a nationwide company and once they have you on the hook, it is obvious they don't consider customer satisfaction as being important.
