Claimant says:
"I purchased a building from General Steel Buildings. At my request General Steel recommended a "preferred contractor" (from Georgia) for my building project in WV. I live in North Carolina.

The "preferred" contractor (Magwood Construction) insisted on multiple deposits totaling to $14,750. "Jeff" Magwood requested that all payments be wired. The contractor then disappeared once the project was scheduled to start. NO

WORK WAS DONE. Dead lines were missed causing me further costs. He did not show up on May 27, 2013 to off-load the building. I have not been able to contact him since.

An internet search revealed that this contractor has not had a valid contractor license for years. Also he had multiple law suits against him. He has no assets to recover losses from.

I confronted the VP of General Steel about the quality of their preferred contractors and he admitted that they did not annually review the contractor qualifications."
