Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"On April 28,2014 we contacted American Air Inc. for an airduct cleaning at $34.95. The guy came in immediately took the front off the air handler and told us we had mold. He swabbed the wires put it in some liquid and said see how it turned black that means you have mold. He scared us to death because he said you have to take care of this immediately, it's really bad and you'll get sick. He said he would thoroughly clean the unit , blower motor,A/C coil and etc. We had to leave for 3 hours. When we csme back he was gone, we had no idea what was done? A Florida State Licensed Adjuster came in to do an inspection to see if we could claim on Homeowners Ins. He said #1 the sample should have been sent to a lab, to determine if it was mold because even dust would turn the liquid black. He also should do a post test to be sure everything was eliminated. None of the items that were supposed to be cleaned were cleaned, they are still clogged with the substance he said was mold but is actually dirt. . We have pictures to proove it. He told us he recommended sanitizing to eliminate germs and bacteria. Mildicide to eliminate mold, mildue and fungus. Sanitizing to eliminate germs and bacteria. Room fogging and sealant to prevent mold growth. All bogus because we didn't have mold. The inspector said he might have sprayed "Kilz" paint on a few vents but that was probably all. He quoted $1800.00 but by the time he finished adding extras he said we needed, the total was $2,275.80"

  • The false statements are made by American Air because we are stating what happened. Mold may not be listed on the receipt but that is definately what the technician told us it was. We were not offered any menu to choose levels of restoration for our system. It was one option, you owe $2200 dollars. What a joke to say "IF" there was work not completed, when nothing was done. The unit is still clogged with the same substance . We have lots of pictures to substantiate this claim. Plus who would we tell the work was not done to our satisfaction since no one was here when we returned. We did not get an estimate, it was a bill, and the work was not completed!!

Message from American Air Inc.: There are many false statements made in Mr.Hammond's claim. First we at no point use scare tactics with any client ever. Our estimates are presented in an menu form that the customer can choose from different levels of restoration for thier system. We used a microbial swab test which indicates weather a system has high levels of bateria that is unhealthy to breath. You can see on his reciept there is no metion of mold. Mr. Hammond is upset because he contacted his insurance and the sent thier adjusterr over who made these claims of spraying "kills" who mind you it's in the adjuster's best interest to deny the claim in the first place. We guarantee our work 100%. If there was work not completed to his satisfaction we would love the opportunity to come back out and reclean to his liking. In the interest of good business we will offer a refund of 10% of the purchase price (227.58). So in closing our technician gave an estimate first, completed the work, and we are willing to reclean as customer sees fit, and will refund $227.58
