Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I received a letter in the mail around Feb 13th, 2014 from Preston Lord Enterprises. They gave us hope that we could earn money from home putting pages in order, stapling and then mailing their booklets. The letter said that they would prepay us before any booklets were to be mailed. We read that if we weren't making the kind of money they told us we would make after 60 days we could get a refund of $99.00 + $35.00 for giving them a try. We felt safe with that. Watched the video and was impressed. Responded on Feb 27, 2014 to mail received to earn money at home stapling and mailing booklets for Preston Lord Enterprise I registered in my husband’s name. Didn't hear or read anything about having to spend extra money for list of names, booklets, envelopes, stamps, pay to have more flyers made etc. until we received our package in the mail. We received a list of names, envelopes, flyers, and a sample of each booklet. Along with instructions on how much the list of names, booklets would cost to get more. We were told to pay to make copies of the flyers and then pay the postage to mail out the flyers after buying more lists of names and booklets to have on hand. There was no phone number to contact a real person like the video said. If we had known that we would have to spend more money in order to get our refund of $99.00 after 60 days plus an extra $35.00 we wouldn't have sent the $99.00 + $5.00 + .49 in the first place since we are on a tight budget. We decided to not mail anything out and decided to contact the company by certified mail spending another $3.79 and asked for a refund of our $99.00. We gave them a time frame but have heard nothing. According to USPS it was delivered on March 21, 2014. We told Preston Lord Enterprises that we are willing to return the list of names, envelopes, booklets and flyers that they originally sent to us if we heard from them and they give us a refund of the $99.00. We have heard nothing. Plenty of time has been given to Preston Lord Enterprises to respond. We don't want others to be a victim of what we feel is a scam. We would like our money back. We feel we were deceived with the original letter soliciting us to work from home for Preston Lord Enterprises. We would like our initial payment of $99.00 + $35.00 (for all of the inconvenience, additional money we spent to contact Preston Lord Enterprises) to register with this company. I have the original paper work we received in the mail making what we feel to be false statements. Nothing was said about having to buy list of names, envelopes, booklets and paying postage. Instead they said, "You'll receive ADVANCE PAYMENT for each booklet that you staple...As soon as you register to work with our company, we'll get you placed in our data base and rush your initial supplies immediately. The supplies you'll work on a regular basis consist mainly of numbered booklets pages. Your job will be putting the pages in numerical order, putting the booklet cover on top of each set of pages, and then stapling the whole thing together to form a complete booklet. This was not the case."
