Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"On Sep 5, 2012, my 2005 Suzuki, Verona developed mechanical problems. It would not accelerate and would jerk and cut off. I had it towed to Dick Dyer on that same day. They told me that they would check it out and get back with me. On Saturday Sep 8, the company called and informed me that I had 2 bad sensors that needed to be replaced. I gave them permission to replace the two sensors. A week passed and I did not hear from the company. On Monday Sep 10, I called the company to find out the status of my vehicle. I was told by Jim Bunt the service manager that they were soaking the converter where the sensors were connected so that it could loose them for removal and that it would take a couple of days to complete it. Again on Wed, Sep 12, I called and was told that the mechanic went home on an emergency and that he would not be back until that Mon, Sep 17 and that he would call me on that day. I was not called on that day, so on the next day I called and was told that the mechanic was busy and he would call me back. I waited two days for the call from the mechanic and never received the call. On Friday, Sep 21, I called the company and demanded to know what was going on with my vehicle. I was told that they installed the two sensors but the car was still jerking and that they had to further do some checking. The next week I call and and was told that the service manger was on the other line and that he would call me back. I called again on Wed, Sep 26 and was told that I had to call back later. When I called the next week, I was told that I might need a timing belt and that might not solved the problem. I told him I did not want a timing belt installed. The service manager told me to give him a couple days to work on something. On Oct 9, I called and was told that the service manager was off for the day. At this time, I felt that I was being avoided so I ask my wife to call that same day and ask to speak to the service manager and when she call the service attendant put her right through to him. When she question him about the status of the car, he told her the car was still not working and that there was nothing else that they could do and he said that it is going to cost $1400 plus to get the car. She asked what was done on the car and that is when we found out that they did routine maintenance on the vehicle. I did not authorize any routine maintenance. I only authorized for what they said was wrong which was to replace the two sensors. They kept my vehicle from Sep 5 to present, and the vehicle is still operating the same way that it was when I had it towed to them. My wife told them that we were not going to pay for something that was not authorized. The service manager and his supervisor said that for the length of time that the car was there, they would adjust the cost to $819.89. I should only pay for what I authorized which is the two sensors. The vehicle is still at the service shop and will not be released until the $819.89 is paid and as I stated that the company did not fix the vehicle, the vehicle is not operable and will have to be towed from the company. I will not pay for something that I did not authorize."
