Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Richard Fitzgerald claimed he was a job interviewer/recruiter for a company name Autodesk Inc im San Rafael, Ca which he contact me back on July 2nd since I had posted my resume on Indeed.com & Monster.com and have been looking for a job for awhile. I interviewed with him online for a job working from home. Got supposedly hired and will be sending me all my working materials enough to set up a mini office aty home. It did sound too good to be true but I believed him. He also said he will be sending me a check to deposit in my account but I had to withdraw cash and deposit to another bank with account number to a vendor whom his company trust to send me all my working materials such as laptop, printer, scanner etc... I did what he told me $7200 i took out and deposit to a Wells Fargo Bank on a Saturday under the name of Yvonne Smith with a valid account number (which I verified with bank) once the deposit was made I advised Richard Fitgerald of such snd he said I will be getting my materials in the next week. Well come Monday evening, I receive an email from my bank stating the check I deposit had no funds and was a bogus account number causing my bank to be overdrawn by $7200.00 dollars. Immediately I contact Richard Fitzgerald and of course no response! I went into panic mode, went to the bank to file a claim but they said there's nothing they can do since I took the money but I explained "I did not keep any money" i also immediately went to Sheriff's Station to file a FRAUD report. They are calling it "online scam & fraud" i gave all copies of checks & any papers plus deposit slip to bank account where the money went to and all chat, emails, phone numbers & text communication with Richard Fitzgerald (if that's even his name) I believed it was a great working opportunity for me and he sure fooled me. Now I owe the bank for money I did not keep. This is a nightmare! Please be careful everyone. Remember "If it's too good to be true, it probably is not true""
