Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I contracted with Continental Siding Supply through Home Depot to construct a patio cover over my Deck. Continental boasts the "Lifetime Warranty" on parts and labor for lifetime of the product. Home Depot boasts the fact that they will stand behind the purchase even if the vendor does not. I know this because I worked for Home Depot at the time of purchase and the warranty is part of the sales pitch approach to potential customers. After several e-mails and phone conversations back and forth and against my wishes I signed a contract with Continental to install the patio cover by doing a 12" cut-back of my overhang to attach the cover to my fascia board. Cover was installed on 04/11/13, (my personal cost of $6,164.00). Installation went well and we were very pleased until Summer of 2014, when the roof began to leak. I began trying to contact Continental on 08/30/14 and again on 09/26/14 with no success. I finally got a hold of "Sandy" at their Kansas City Mo Office. She was going to give my information to a person named "Jerry" and "he" was supposed to call me back. I called again on 10/28/14 and spoke to "Lisa" who said she would have one of the "repair guys" will give me a call. Then was transferred to a person named "Mike Crabtree". Mr. Crabtree that he was aware of my problem and that had personally been to my house and had climbed up on my roof, (without my knowledge), and inspected the problem. He stated that the issue with the roof was made worse because of the condition of my shingles. He said that they were brittle and in need of replacement therefore making the repair more difficult. At this point he made the statement that "HE" did not know how to fix it nor did he give me any options. Conversation over. Being a Home Depot Employee at the time I was also aware of their claim of warranty ownership and backing as well. While employed I stated my issue with two different "SASM's", (Specialty Assistant Managers), on 11/16/14 then again on 01/10/15. Each time with no response or resolution. I then escalated my complaint to the next level which was my Store Manager(SM), Brandon Purtle on 03/03/15, again with no response. On March the 9th, 2015 I separated from Home Depot (I was terminated due to an unrelated incident where I was the customer on my day off and I was trying to complain about my poor customer service experience to one of the SASM'S mentioned in this statement. He intern filed an internal false complaint about me and I was terminated a week after the incident). On 04/14/15 I escalated my complaint again to the District Manager (DM) level to Steven Esparsa, again with no response. I decided I would give Continental one more opportunity to do the right thing. I called them again on 06/02/15 (not sure of the date), spoke with whomever answered the phone, (Susan, I think), and explained my situation "again" and again I was told that she would pass the information along and that "someone" would call me back. I informed her at that time that it would be my last point of contact with Continental directly in an attempt to get this problem resolved."
