Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"AT&T service in Edgewater, Fl.  I went to AT&T May 13, 2017 to check on TV and Internet service at my home residence in Edgewater, Fl 32141.  I spoke with manager James T. Because of prior checking with AT&T 2 years ago I specifically aked the question of him if AT&T still does a hard credit check, and if they did I DID NOT WANT the service. James T. told me in front of my wife that they DO NOT now do a hard credit check that it would only be a soft check, I asked if he was sure because I knew in the past they did, he specifically said, I am positive we only do a soft credit check. I entered into a contract with AT&T at that time for TV and Internent service. Upon checking my credit a month later I discovered they did a hard credit check resulting in my rating taking a 5 point hit and this will remain on the credit report for 2 years. I have contacted everyone associated with this contract and they state there is nothing they or myself can do to resolve this.
Secondly I was told by the person puting in the service at my house that due to location he couldnt install a dish that he advised to go with U-Verse TV which would result in my monthly charge being 105.00 @ month INCLUDING all taxes, orginally with direct TV is was to be 95.95 @ month including taxes.  Now I find out neither the 95.95 nor the 105.00 included taxes even though the contract states that it does. My new bill is 105.00 plus taxes and fee. If I knew all this and IF the rep at either location had been honest I never would have went with AT&T, I would have stayed with Spectrum. This is a breach of contract on both the credit check and the monthly charge, but they say I am now looking at a 400.00 disconnect fee if I leave them. I just paid 214.67 first billing statement. What a scam way to do busincess especially from a company as large as AT&T"
