Claimant says:
"I took my 2011 Mercedes Benz Sprinter to Private Stock on consignment. The owner contacted me on 4/22/25 to inform me my vehicle had been vandalized. He said the catalytic converter had been stolen. This was not true. After having it towed to Floyd's Truck Center for diagnosis, it was determined the damage included removal of the wiring harness &missing exhaust components. Repairing would cost over $12,000. Robert Buxton (owner) said he didn't feel he should be responsible for All of the damage. I asked him for his insurance Company name & he refused to give it to me. I contacted my insurance & got a letter of denial with a case # to submit to his insurance company.
This was left in his care & he was negligent & failed to secure it. I believe, by law, car dealers are REQUIRED to carry (at the least) 'Garage' Insurance.
Private Stock advertises their lot is covered by 24/7 camera surveillance. I discovered the cameras had not been working for years. The parking lot was NOT well lit as advertised.
They never filed a police report, so I did so with Pennington Co. Sheriff's Office.
My Mercedes has been parked at Floyd's for months. I contacted Robert Buxton again August 24 in an effort to resolve this. He let me know he wasn't going to pay anything. I asked for his insurance information again & he hung up on me.
Since this incident, Private Stock has lit the parking lot & installed cameras. At the time, I consigned my vehicle neither of these (advertised) were done.
I believe he is responsible for ALL damage done to my vehicle under his care.
I would greatly appreciate any to avoid taking this to court."
