Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I have already spoken to the owner concerning this issue on Tuesday June 9th. He apologized for the store managers behavior and said he would consider changing some aspects of current store policy.
I took my son to the mall to get some ideas for an upcoming birthday and he asked to stop at the cookie store. I handed the store manager (Darrin) my debit card for payment and he refused to accept because it wasn't signed. Store policy he explained. Darrin asked me for another form of payment and I handed him a credit card, this card wasn't signed either. I have lost my wallet in the past and signed cards have caused fraudulent issues, so I don't do it anymore. The store manager at that point asked me for my i.d. I noticed that the only thing I brought into the mall were my two cards and my i.d. was in my vehicle.
At this point I was getting a little frustrated over a $7.32 purchase. My son had already taken two bites from the cookie as well as I had. I offered to leave one or the other or both of my cards with the store manager until I got back with my i.d., Darrin looked at me as if he didn't understand English. I asked him if he had any ideas of how he would like to handle this situation, again he looked at me as if he didn't understand English. At that point it was obvious to me that Darrin was unable to make a decision that wasn't in the book marked "company policy." To my surprise a few minutes later while walking to the car to get my i.d. I was stopped by mall police, with Darrin close behind. After a short conversation with the mall police, they felt I had done nothing wrong, sent me on my way. Obviously by this time I'm furious, I have been embarrassed in public in front of my son and all the people that was there to witness it, customers and vendors of the mall alike. I continued to my car, got my i.d. took it back to the store and remitted payment. I had a few choice words for Darrin and I will never go back to do business with these people again. I haven't heard again from the owner, Rich Harris. I'm shocked that letting unqualified teenagers run your business because they are cheap labor is acceptable"
