Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"My son goes to an alternative school with an anger disorder. He plays basketball at the school and when he's not their at the school some kids proceed to still say negative stuff about him to where some were trying to intimidate my 10th grade daughter. The school claims they talked to the kids and will take care of it and next time the cops will be involved, but my daughter is still not satisfied. Not to mention one night at practice my son got a little upset and the coach called him over and told him to settle down and it got a little heated and my son walked away to calm down which he is told to do and the coach yelled so everyone could hear and told him if he doesn't like it there's the door. My son quit the next night and with all this going on the school filed charges against me for a citation because I was angry and said some things over email and the phone. I'm fine with that, but the coach lied to the cop and told him he had another coach try to calm him down and the other coach had no idea at the time what was going on because he was on the other side of the court. So I'm dealing with two situations at once and it's hard to touch schools because they can do anything they want."

  • First, you should immediately file a complaint with the highest authority at the school if you have not done so (the principal, etc). If you have already done that, you should file a complaint with the highest administrator in the school district where the school is located. After researching, it appears that an anger disorder can be categorized as a disability, which is a protected class in the state of Wisconsin. Because of this, if the school district has not resolved this issue to your satisfaction, you should contact the Department of Public Instruction and see if you can file an appeal.
