Statement of Claim
"After several instances of contacting "Off Campus Philly" regarding repairs that NEEDED to be repaired (such as: microwave, oven handle, windows, HUGE, disgusting leak in the basement that is littered with feces, urine, and toilet paper from neighbors, none of the plumbing is correct) in order to make the apartment habitable, the company failed (and more specifically Megan Conway) to administer these problems in a professional fashion. Rather, they would not respond to any of my texts or e-mails to fix the problem and now I'm trying to get my money back since I never moved into the apartment."

What Claimant Wants Hide
Message from Claimant: Sir - you fail to recognize that it was not just "one" problem, but several. The microwave cover is broken (and a duct tape repair is not a proper fix), the oven handle and inside metal lining is broken which causes heat to escape through the cracks, the windows get constantly jammed and or fall off the hinges rendering the windows useless and to top it all off the leak and plumbing issues were not fixed. All I ask for is my security deposit and the last month's rent because it was extremely difficult to deal with this situation on top of my studies and my tutoring job. Again, I messaged Megan several times and if it weren't for her unprofessionalism, I would have been fine with the property, however it's been far too long of a wait for these petty repairs. I appreciate your promptness and respectful manner.

  • When moving into an Off Campus Philly apartment, I demanded necessary repairs be made (Carpets smelled, Leaks in basement, etc.) Of course, none were. When moving out, I was charged over $3000 in repair fees, for the things that needed to be repaired when I moved in. Also, I dealt with a gas leak the entire time I spent there. Any call, text, or e-mail sent to Megan Conway about it was ignored. I am considering taking legal action against Off Campus Philly. They also charged me for "unpaid water bills", for which, I have all the receipts. DO NOT GIVE THIS SLUMLORD YOUR BUSINESS.

  • I just want to clarify from your claim – you paid a security deposit, plus first month’s rent for a place that you were never able to move into because it was uninhabitable? There are certain rights that renters have, and a habitable apartment, free from issues such as you suggested is one of them. You also put them on notice by informing them of the issues with the apartment. In this situation, because it seems that the landlord/owner of the apartment is not willing to meet your settlement offer (which is full refund), perhaps this is a potential case for small claims court. While the suggestion of court is drastic, here, you were rented what appears to be an uninhabitable apartment, and your security deposit is reserved for damage you do to the apartment.
