"Golden Gate Fields, a.k.a. Pacific Racing is an employer that is by far the guiltiest of unfair business practices that I have ever worked for. I began working there at 15 and ended my employment at 32. During the almost 17 years I worked both full and part time for them, they NEVER ONCE paid overtime to me or any non-union employee when a shift exceeded 8 hours, and on busy days would not even allow us to take a lunch. As if this was not enough, I discovered their biggest "dirty little secret" in 2011, about a year before no longer working there. My supervisor at the time disclosed to me that out of every single non-union employees paycheck, they purloined a percentage of it and put it into the union pension fund, without any sort of written consent or notification. It goes temporarily to an account in the employees name, then, as they can never become vested (I had attempted to join the union previously when I was full time, and they stifled my efforts by cutting my hours and forcing me into other employment), after a certain window, it gets distributed equally to the existing union employees retirement funds. Between being forced to work through lunches, never receiving overtime, and unlawfully taking money from MY paycheck, they easily cheated me out of over $40,000.00. Do not let this happen to you!"
