Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Paid $85 to join the Transcription Job Bank of Mommy Jobs Online (MJOL). In 2 months, there has been only 1 new job added to service. Yet, whenever you go anywhere looking for medical transcription job, you have to contact MJOL. You cannot find out who is hiring without contacting them. After joining their service, I have sent a minimum of 30 resumes into MJOL with the appropriate Agent Code in Subject Line, never hearing 1 response from them. Left several messages with no return call. I even sent them a "gripe" letter, with no response or acknowledgment. They say you cannot get your money back. I WANT to be refunded. I cannot get any response from a company who states they will HELP in finding their clients a job."

  • Mar 06, 2017, Claiming party added:
  • Every medical transcription job that is out there, you cannot find which hospital or which company is posting it because MJOL has their names on all of them, meaning you have to go through them. I have since put emails to them regarding "open positions," with not a peep (once again) from anyone at MJOL. It makes it almost impossible to gain employment.

  • We are a work at home job directory service job board that pre-screens genuine and reputable companies before posting to our job board. We are not responsible for making any hiring decisions by the listed companies that hire agents at home unless it's one of our own internal jobs. So please contact the companies directly and check on your application status. Thanks

  • May 14, 2017, Mommy Jobs Online 1-405-418-6160 (responding party) added:
  • You should be only applying to jobs in our job bank not from other job boards as we are not in control of what other job boards send to you by email notifications. We are in full control of our own job board only. So be sure to apply within our job board.

  • May 14, 2017, Claiming party added:
  • My claim against your company has nothing to do with other companies. I spoke with Christina by telephone twice about the very issue that you had the total of 2 jobs that were added to your Transcription Job Bank in 2 months. When looking on other sites for jobs since there was nothing new on yours is when I saw that you have ALL transcription jobs locked up. I made a copy of the Transcription Job Bank when I first started to compare with the site as progressing on. Almost 3 months later, there was a job added to that bank, but it was preferred the applicant be Spanish speaking. I left numerous messages on your office machine without any return call and no messages ever received. I have copies of the 30+ letters with resumes I emailed into your company, and still was not once contacted by anyone from your company except Christina, but as she works in a different Job Bank, she really could not help me except to pass onto her supervisor my suggestion that the jobs on your Job Bank be dated as to when they posted. • We have had over 25 jobs posted in the past month so not sure where you only seen 2 jobs posted. We return all calls so feel free to reach us anytime during business hours 405 418 6160. Thanks

  • May 16, 2017, Claiming party added:
  • In your ad, you say you have new jobs "all the time." I have done more than once what you stated. Most of the jobs you have listed on your job board DO NOT HIRE CALIFORNIA EMPLOYEES. There was no mention of this in you ad. Another great amount of jobs listed on your job bank are no longer available jobs but not taken off your list. That leaves very few actual jobs available.

Respondent's Counteroffer Hide
The claimant's settlement terms were rejected with the following explanation:
  • I disagree with the explanation / grounds provided

"We update our job boards as new positions arise from various companies hiring needs a few times each week in different areas. If you are applying on our job board with various companies then you will need to follow up with the hiring transcription company regarding your application as we do not hire directly for the clients especially if you sent 30 resumes. Please be sure your work skills are matching what the clients are looking for before applying to job openings too because they make their own hiring decisions. Most HR companies that are willing to hire agents from home contact you if your skills are on an expertise level or if your test results pass their standards. We do not issue refunds due to all our remote jobs are guaranteed and are pre-screened before posting to the job network board which is stated on our website before joining. Once please consult with the hiring companies that you applied to and check the status of your application. Thanks!"

  • Question: by Beata Hugos — Online mediator
  • On: 09-06-2017
  • Hi Annamarie,

I am sorry for the loss of your $85. Mommy Jobs Online is an awful rip-off company. I have yet to see what I will find on them on ripoffreport.com. I have been smart enough not to pay them anything but they have ripped me off some precious free time today. Can you, please, call me at (802) 442-0711 so we can devise a plan to report them to the Oklahoma State Attorney General's Office for fraudulent business practices?

    Best wishes,

    Beata

  • If you charged this on your C.C. dispute the charge for the reasoning you mention here. Your C.C. company  will ask if you have contacted MJO to resolve the issue and then they will contact them. It has been my experience they credit the charge, send you a letter asking for complaint in writing and if they find it to be legit, they will charge it back. Plus, do what Bob suggested about writing your state attorney general and BBB. Good Luck!

  • I'm trying to understand this. You mean you paid a fee to Mommy Jobs Online, but that still doesn't give you access to the jobs?

If I get on Monster.com as an applicant, I don't have to pay any fee and I can still see the jobs with direct contact information. I believe that the company pays a fee to advertise the job, although I may be wrong.

I am trying to understand why anyone would join Mommy Jobs Online. Mommy Jobs Online could completely make up a load of job postings and say ooh look how many jobs we've got - oops, you didn't get ANY of them (but we've still got your $85).

I can see that there could be a market for companies that don't want to spend money on ads and like having the job applicants support their ads. What I don't see is what's in it for the applicants, if they can't go direct to the company. Is Mommy Jobs Online playing both ends of the field?

I genuinely don't understand this so if I have it wrong please explain.
