"My business purchased some lumber from Michael Blank/Zuni Guitars. He said if we got him a check the next day he would have the lumber to us the following week.

Dear Christopher,
Sorry about you getting the fifth degree. we are wanting move this also and we have to get down South in the next few days where a lot more of our spalted maple. Attached are some pictures we took yesterday. The wood is now on it's way down South where we will combine it with the spalted maple we have there and it will get shipped from Alto Pass to there. We will be able to take more pictures down South. I mentioned we will have 2000 bdft to ship to you and we will have to look at inventory to see what more we have. Like I mentioned before we probably have 4000 bdft but you want to start with 2000. Also this wood is not planned so it's hard really getting an idea of the spalting until it's planned. Once we will receive the check to that Sagola address and will be headed south and be back there before the weekend. If we get the money tomorrow overnight ups we can get back to Alto Pass and get your stuff shipped at the beginning of next week. Thanks Michael

He cashed the check and disappeared. He finally wrote back with excuse after excuse. Just leading us on. We were forced to purchase material from another company to complete the job we were in the middle of. After two months we had to ask for a refund because we were no longer in need of the lumber. It wasn't until then that he gave us the address to where the wood was, telling us we could go pick it up. We informed him that it was too late we no longer needed the product and that we demand a refund. He refused entirely. Claiming that this was somehow our fault."

  • Claimant Christopher who works for Benchmark his complaint is very incorrect. I priced the wood for much more footage than he requested with a cheaper price and he then cut back on his order. Wood was hand sorted and cut to his dimensions and ready for him to pick up. This was spalted maple. Photographs were taken and he kept telling me a truck was coming to pick it up which never happened. I then talked to his boss and he said he would pick it up in a few days which he never did. Wood sat there for almost 2 months then he came and asked for a refund. I told him we do not give refunds on specialty lumber cut to the customers specifications so he had a choice of picking up the wood or walk away. He chose to walk away and then tried to trash us on the internet. His emails contained all kinds of physical threats and slander. He is a young punk that should not be in the business he is in and doesn't know what he is doing. He should have been fired for the nasty emails he sent and we still have them in our possession. Zuni Guitars has nothing to do with this transaction he added it on to trash our guitars. I would never do business with Benchmark selling them any wood so becareful on their wood requests.

  • I currently have a judgment and lien against Michael Blank and all his real estate. We were to form wood business and I was ripped off for the price of a brand new lumber mill. Blank was not in court when case was decided so no mechanism is in place to collect. Further attempts to serve him were futile, police in Union County are afraid of him and someone at Union County informs him when papers are drawn against him. He also has a lawyer who thinks like he does and, I believe, also has a financial stake in his guitar business. Mr. Blank is a truly dishonest person and should be avoided. I might have to wait until he dies before I or my heirs can collect.
