Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Direct TV installed without my permission a dish and cable ( for which they drilled through the middle of the wall ) without prior consent. Then tricked the renters into signing by have the paper mixed with the papers for which they signed AFTER installation. Now I have a hole in the side of my house to the inside and a dish on my roof that voided the 40 year warranty on it."

  • Thank you for contacting us through PeopleClaim! I understand you have a concern regarding a dish that was installed at your property. When a DIRECTV order is placed, part of the confirmation process is to confirm that locations with a landlord would need to provide us with permission to have the equipment installed.

We include the form online as well to make sure that our customers have this if they need it. You can review this online at www.directv.com/landlordpermission.

I also want to clarify that DIRECTV does not remove dishes or cabling as this is the property of the account holder once the installation is completed. We would not be responsible for damage that may have been caused from the previous tenant removing their equipment from your property.

It is the responsibility of the tenant to confirm that their DIRECTV installation does not violate the terms of their renters agreement, as we would not have access to this information.

    Thank you again,

    Rebecca

  • After researching this issue, DirecTV states that they need landlord permission before installing any of their equipment in a permanent fixture on the property structure. Because they did not obtain this permission, and it seems that the local franchise is not responding appropriately to your objections, perhaps moving up the chain of command is appropriate. For example, if a regional manager or the headquarters cannot help you get the relief you seek, the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) regularly reviews complaints of consumers in regards to satellite and cable issues.
