Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I took an agreement with ADT security system June 2015 aprox. The agent sold me on signing saying that anytime the alarm went off, we would be contacted by the Sherriff office in Hartford. For about a year if we had a time when it would get set off, immediately the sherriff's office would call . Then about 4 months the alarm would get set off ,no one would call. Then for a month or so sometimes when the alarm is set off a call comes in from Co. they take 5 or more minutes taking information about your phone number. It was set off Friday nite, the call came in and they said because the alarm was shut off they knew we did not have an emergency. There is no security to this process . I can call 911 and have the sheriff here while they are deciding if this is the right number.

To me this is no protection. Then they tell me they are raising the cost 3.97 per month, I already pay 44.99. I am 77 years old on a fixed income. I want this account cancelled and I do not intend to pay for a recording. The calls that comes in is a recording (Not a Person. ) deciding if I need help FROM CO

I have sent them a letter canceling this account. I have also called to cancel the account. they told me that I would still have to pay $521.00 to cancel the contract, which would be the amount for the full contract. I have sent e mails since the 28th of Dec. 2016. They are not giving any protection at all. I WANT THIS CANCELLED AND MY A CCOUNT CLEARED OUT. WITHOUT ANY DAMAGE TO MY CREDIT.

  • Yes the system does work, if the alarm is set off a recorded call comes from Co. A recording comes and ask me what my phone #is if I have a problem then they decide I don't need help. This is not what I agreed to I was told anytime the alarm went off that it would go to Sheriff's office and it did at first. Now it goes to an answering machine. No I am not satisfied . I am not going to pay for this.

    A representive from ADT called me Tues . Night on the 24th, he told me they return my service back to Sheriff , he also told me if I would continue the service they would lower the monthly charge to $26.95. But he did not do any of the things he said he would do. I have his name, if needed. I have sent ADT e mails and a letter, telling that I am cancelling since Dec. 28, they refused to respond, when I did finally receive a letter on the 28 of Jan. they said I would have to sent them a letter. I want this account closed now. I am not going to pay for a service that is not a service. It's an answering machine. Martha Jackson

When alarm goes off, it goes to an answering machine (not to the Sherriff's office as I was promised when purchased.) the machine answers spends precious time deciding if you have a need. I can contact 911 while they are going through their procedure. I am not going to pay for an answering machine . Some one called from their company and agreed this is not a service , he promised he would transfer back to sheriff's office, but he did not follow through. SERVICE NO GOOD.

    "Customers system is communicating and ADT has record of signals being received. If the customer disarms the system within the allotted time then ADT does not call on the signal due to the proper cancel code being received. We've offered to have a technician to service the account due to the alleged issues which was declined by the customer. The customer is accountable for charges associated with early termination and can discuss this further with our billing department at 1-800-238-2727. "

    ADT (not Sheriff's Office) should call to check on alarm calls with code entered. Claimant has reasonable expectations for ADT monitoring with substantial monthly cost. If ADT does not meet reasonable expectations it should allow early termination. More...
