Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"We hired Your Grass Is Mine to remove an old walkway, put in a new walkway and step, and landscape the front of our house. Part of the old walkway included one step to the landing to our front door. They were suppose to grind down the landing and put a new limestone top on it and a new step. They did not grind down the landing, Instead they covered it with cut up limestone tiles that had an overhang and (in some areas) up to one inch gaps in the two inch overhang. Also by simply adding to the landing they made the step up to the landing too steep. Instead of a new step, they put two very low steps - still leaving one large step up to the landing. The two steps and landing were not what we agreed to or paid for. When we asked them why they did what they did. The reply was: We couldn't grind down the landing so we went with a different tile for the landing that wasn't as thick. "I had to make a decision". Why would a business person make a decision without consulting the customer? The tiles were spaced unevenly and not level. We asked that the tiles be removed and make the second step taller to make the steps to the front door more even and seed a few small ares left undone from original contract. They agreed to make the 3 corrections. They removed the tiles. We waited two weeks for the materials to arrive to them so they could complete the repairs. We got a call from Your Grass Is Mine asking for more money for the step, that was to be fixed last Saturday. We told them we weren't paying for it, and we haven't heard from them since."
