Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I bought a comera over the internet on Oct. 3,2014. Two days later I received (2) E Mails from them. One saying to call to confirm my order, and (1) saying to call to give them the security code from my charge call. I called to confirm and they said I should order a battery for $59 as cameras no longer come with batteries. I questioned this but they insisted. I then suggestted that the battery from my old camera would probably work (same brand) but they said no. So, I ordered it as they said it was on sale. Incidently, they never did ask me for the security code as one E Mail hads suggested. The camera finally came (25) days later, but the charge was $388.95. I had agreed to the original $259 plus the fraudulent $59 charge for the battery, but that would be $318. On checking directly with Nikon, they confirmed to me that this model camera always came with a battery and charger and also that the battery and charger from my old camera was the same.
So, I complained. They said the had upgraded me from the European Model to the American Model with my approval. This was never mentioned and is not true. They finally offerred to take the camera back for a $25 charge plus I pay the shipping and insurance back to them. These (2) charges would wipe out most of what I could save by purchasing at Wallmart, plus they demanded that I first sign an E Mail statement agreeing to many conditions before they would send me an RA. I suggestted that they just levalize the price with the local price including sales tax (about$90), and he hung up.
Interestingly the web is full of complaints about this company for years, including the BBB. Many of the complaints are just like mine, word for word. It's unfortunate that I did not check first.
Some how this company needs to be stopped. Also, one of their addresses given is in FL, my home, which means by law, they should be charging FL sales tax. They did not. If you are unsuccessful in helping, my next step is to report them to the Florida Attorney General.
