Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Sent Three very expensive rifle builds June of 2013 to them, to build match rifles, after talking to them about what I wanted, they said no problem. Sent them in in three hard camp cases. Got them back on March 10, 2014. First only two cases came back. On the first inspection found a couple things wrong. Called them about the case and discussed what I had found, they said they didn't do that any more, which is opposite of all standards set for this type of work. I then started inspection of the other work and found more things that was not done or done right. And used parts was used in place of the new one sent. I called again, they said to send what was wrong. I did a detailed list with pict. and sent it to them. After they got the information, I was call by R. smith and the first thing he said was this is a bunch of BS and from that point he was belligerent and I was not able to communicate With him. Got a lot of more pict and some one who was present when I unpacked them. Robert Jenkins"

The claimant's settlement terms were rejected with the following explanation:
  • I disagree with the explanation / grounds provided

"Mr Jenkins sent these 3 rifles to us last summer, along with all of the parts that HE provided for us to assemble and glass-bed his rifles.

*Now, the stocks that Mr Jenkins provided us with were used and previously glass-bedded to begin with. This alone constitutes a problem for us, as we have to remove the prior bedding to perform a new glass-bed job.

*All of the parts that were used on Mr Jenkin's rifles were sent to us and provided by him. We did not supply him with any parts, nor did we use "Used" parts to replace his new ones. We use only what is provided to us by the customer, and if we use our parts or used parts, we always contact the customer prior to obtain approval and confirmation. As for his "missing" hard case, he only sent us two cases, as the third rifle was sent to us in small boxes of parts.

*These rifles were assembled and then test-fired prior to shipment back out to the customer. They shot sub-MOA (Below 1") groups, which is what we require of our builds before they are returned to the customer. With some of the issues that Mr Jenkins stated in his "problem packet", the rifles would have been dangerously unsafe, as well as un-shootable.

*Mr Jenkins informed us that upon delivery of his rifles, he completely disassembled them to inspect them. Does the consumer who buys a brand new car, pull it into his garage and remove the engine, transmission, alternator, fuel pump, etc.. to inspect them upon purchase ? No, they do not, as that would void their warranty immediately. Why would someone want to completely disassemble their brand new rifle, which has been shot and test-fired for accuracy to inspect it ? Not to mention the fact that you should NOT be taking a bedded action in and out of it's stock.

*Mr Jenkins stated to us on the phone and in his packet that he was a Match armorer himself and that he has assembled match rifles during the '80s. Why then, is he sending these rifles to us if he knows how to do all the work by himself ? He states in his packet that he has "corrected" all of the problems that were present upon delivery to him.

*Mr Jenkins is clearly a blatant liar. He cannot prove any of the problems that he has stated here or in his packet that he sent to us, nor can we prove any of his accusations. There is no way that he or us can prove one way or another that the parts that he sent to us are not the parts we received.

*We have been doing this for over 40 years and our integrity is worth a whole lot more than a few gun parts. We have been the only U.S. Army and U.S. Navy approved builder of M14 rifles since the war in Iraq broke out. We have built hundred of rifles for 25th ID, 10th MTN, 101st ABN, 82nd ABN, Navy Seals, Army SOF, etc.. These are rifles that were hard-used IN COMBAT with no issues whatsoever. We take the same time and care with civilian customer's rifles that we do with government builds.

*Ron Smith does not suffer liars. He personally offered Mr Jenkins a chance to send the rifles back so that we could take a look at the problems and fix them, but Mr Jenkins refused. His chance to amend this issue has passed.

*As a final note, Ron Smith would like to state that any further correspondence that can be construed or proven to be libel will be met with legal action. "
