Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I was a tenant renting a room from her, at 3562 Ruskin ave. I started renting from her 4/6/2014.The agreement was for her to rent me the front room ,which she claimed her son and his girlfriend was going to moved out off by Monday 6/8/2014. She showed me one room at the back which I would be staying in until they moved out on Monday 4/8/2014.I ended up staying in that room until I finally moved out on 8/5/2014.There wasn't a lock on the door, which I spoke to her about, and she told me she bought a new lock that she was going to put on the front door of the house, and then put that old lock on the room door that I rented from her. That she never did.She told me she was going to have one guy come's in and run the cable into the room ,which also never done. She also had her treadmill stored in the room ,which she was going to take out as soon as her daughter came for the set of couch in her family room, she didn't do.I paid her a check of $450.00 on 4/6/2014 ,$300.00 for the rent and $150.00 towards the deposit. On the 4/12/2014 I wrote another check for $150.00 for the rest of the deposit.I called her on my way there on the 8/5/2014 and spoke to her about moving back to my job.But when I got there she had already gone off to bed.She told me before that when she lock her room door at nights, she doesn't answer calls or her door. Now after moving out two weeks I called her about my deposit she told me I can not get it back right now becaused she have business to take care of.Its now three months now.The law said it's 15 days after moving the landlord must return your deposit. With many thanks,i awaits your quickest reply.......Leroy Miller."
