Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Scott Walker, DMD was my past employer. He is a dentist in Beaverton, Oregon. I was one of his dental hygienists. In July 2010, I was dismissed from my job after almost 9 years of employment. My job performance received high marks from both my patients & the doctor himself. Over the years I worked there, I began feeling as though the doctor was treating me differently than the other staff members. I felt disrespected, isolated, and ignored for no reason(s) I can explain. There were instances when I would ask for full time employment. I worked approx 24 hours one week, 32 hours the next, and so forth. Full time employment at our office was 32 hours per week. Dr Walker would always tell me he would think about it due to the ability to fill that extra day with patients. There was no doubt the hygiene schedule could accommodate that additional day & hygienist. As it was, as soon as I was let go, he advertised for a full-time dental hygienist! I felt the reasons he gave me to "let me go" were insufficient & wrongful. My work as a dental hygienist are exceptional, professional and highly ethical. A lot of my recall patients asked specifically to be on my schedule. I built a personal rapport with my patients. I feel the reasons he gave me for terminating my employment are unjust. There was an episode with the front office staff the week before that I believed was resolved and we were moving on. This "episode" was the ammunition he needed to terminate me from my position without warning the following week.
Please help me find whatever justice I can get from this wrongful termination.

  • 07-12-2010 — Problem with front office staff on 7/12/10. Thought resolved, but was terminated from employment the following week after incident occured. Was told by Dr. Walker there was "tension & dissension" in the office for 2 weeks following this episode. It had only been one week, and I had been on vacation the remainder of the week it occured. I came back to work the following Monday (July 19th) and was surprisingly terminated the next day for no apparent reason. I had acted only professionally & ethically in my duties as a Dental Hygienist. I was not overly friendly with the front office staff following initial incident, but I was simply doing my work and providing them with the information they needed for each patient. As busy as my schedule was upon my return to work following my vacation, my duties to clean my operatory, set up for my next patient & type in clinical notes via computer were my more pertinent responsbilities than visiting with the front office staff.
