Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I went into the hospital 3 days before Thanksgiving.....nearly died due to liver failure.....with all this came lose of work for a period of time and short term disability had screwed up on the whole pay thing do to an extension to time out of work. The end result of this made us late on Dec 2013 rent and Jan 2014 rent. The entire time from Nov 2013 to Jan 2014 I was in contact on a weekly basis at most with the management updating them on my health as well as the rent situation. Dec 2013 they worked with us no prob and Jan 2014 was good until the check to pay rent didn't show until the 16th and they had given us until the 15th. I can't control the mail and mail out there didn't even get there until 4-5pm.

So the 16th hit, the check showed, I called them and told them I was getting it for them and they called me back while I was cashing the check and told me they had already filed with eviction court on us. We went to court Feb. 3, 2014 to what they called "mediation", I'm not sure why, because we sat down with the attorney for Princeton Prop and first thing he said " all I can offer you is get out", didn't even care to hear as to why things had happened. That is NOT mediation last I checked! So a family of 5, 2 infants, 2 adults, 1 disabled Grandma, 1 companion pet, and 1 cat were given until Feb 9th, 2014, yep 6 DAYS TO GET OUT in the middle of winter, very very cold, during a snow storm and to their knowledge no place to go.

Now here is the kicker......our lease would have been up March 2014, yep that's right the following month all they would have had to do was say " sorry but we do not wish to resign with you.....you have 30 days". That would have been the humane thing, the right thing to do, but I guess Princeton Property Management is all about destroying people and their lives rather then build up and help better things.

The place was a dump to begin with. The reason nothing more was listed on ALL the issues that unit had was because I ran out of room and Brittany (the manager), along with the maintenance guy told me not to worry about it because Brittany would go back to the office and write up everything since she was there with us on the original walk through and so was the maintenance guy. Mind you this all took the place the very same day the carpets were cleaned and no where near dry. We should not have to be held responsible for what was already an issue at move in.....like the smell of animal urine in the rooms, the old stained carpet...such as the big black SPOTS that were there when we moved in that Brittany herself pointed out to us and said " don't worry about those because the carpet is already at least 2 years old and no matter what you guys do, the spots come back!" These spots where in the living room. She even told us herself that this place was absolutely horrible before we got it and that when there are stains to a carpet you can clean it but the dark spots will always come back!!!!

One other thing how is it even right that everything goes straight to the collection agency with out us even having any idea we owed anything? This doesn't even give us the chance to make things right, instead it is just saying "screw you and have a nice life", this is not right! I am sure that with all my medical paper work showing that I did almost die in November and that everything got messed up because of that, and I was in contact with you guys every week with updated info on my health as well as the rent payment that taking this to court will benefit me and most likely hurt Princeton Prop!

I don't honestly believe after everything your company has put my family through and on top of all the money you already have of ours that we need to pay anything more! If anything we should get compensated for unnecessary added stress to not just myself, but each of my now toddler boys, my husband, and my disabled mother-in-law!

We feel we have been treated unjustly, inhumanely!"

Additional Communication Between Claimant and Princeton Property Management Hide

  • So I thought I should mention in here that I have read through the lease agreement multiple times, and in the section where it talks about the breaking of the lease fee it only states that the fee will be charged if we abandon the unit or if we leave prior to the lease being up and give a 30 day notice......no where in there does not say we will be charged this fee if we are REQUIRED to leave!!!!!

I also wanted to say although I may not have any pictures I do have a lot of eye witnesses that have no problem writing up what they saw upon move in, since they all helped us. I also have many emails from Brittany, one in which that states it was her fault we never got our final move out paper work. Still to this day (5/17/2014) nothing regarding this matter has been mailed to us, that includes our final closing information. I haven't even seen anything from the collection agency that called us. I need to let them know we are disputing everything.

  • May 22, 2014, Claiming party added:
  • I am NOT responding directly because I want every body to know that Princeton Properties lie to get what they want!!!! Yes we had a bad issue with Oak Glen due to my mother-in-law, but they gave us til the end of our lease and told us they would not resign. The total do to them was $8@# something, I have paid my share and the rest I was told would be in my brothers name and it would be completely removed from my credit. Prior to that place.....way prior I alone lived in a complex that was through CTL management that I had to break the lease to because my job at the time moved me away, there was NO DAMAGE done and that has been paid off long ago!!!!!

Princeton Properties is trying to use this against me saying that we have a history of this happening. Had our family of 5 (me still not 100% after nearly dieing in November, my husband, our 2 infants, Disabled Grandma) been given more then 6 days in the middle of a snow storm to get out then everything would have been cleaned, fridge emptied, furniture removed, among other things. We were STUCK at the new place do to being snowed in 3 of the 6 we were given. We did the best we could with what we were given to work with!!!!

Princeton Properties are trying to say the unit was in great condition before we moved in.....yet another lie!!!!!

  • Jun 30, 2015, Claiming party added:
  • I called today and set up a phone consultation with an Attorney for July 2nd and it is still with in the 2 year time frame for me to fight this so good timing on my part! I still have everything, all my medical papers the Princton Prop attorney never asked to see plus all the corresponding emails from Brittany, the manager on site at the time.
If all goes well I am going to ask that not only she get ordered to court, but the maintance guy and Casandra (might be spelled wrong sorry) she was the other person in the office I comunicate with. I comunicate EVERYTHING to them way before ANYTHING was ever due when all this started!!!!!!!!
Since they sent me straight to collections and still to this day I have not recieved a bill U CAN NOT get accepted or approved for a home for my family. I have no problem paying what I owe if I actually owed it! What happened with my health was something COMPLETELY UNCONTROLABLE and also has never happened before and cross my fingers never will again!!!
It was only 5 mo after my 5 month old had had head surgery that I got sick and nearly died and then to top everything off we loose our home in the middle of winter.
Now 1 1/2 years later roughly I am finally back to normal counts and have been back to work for almost just as long!

  • Jul 30, 2015, Claiming party added:
  • Princton Properties is now trying to tell my Attorney that the money we owe is do to damage and us forfeitING the unit, however we have emails stating no damage was made to the unit upon us leaving and we had no choice, but to leave before our lease was up simply because they kicked us out. I will fight this horrible company until the day I die if I have to!!!!

  • there is urine smell in 1 room of apartment carpet and started after they removed office staff and put other unfriendly staff in their place. they do have access to our apartments and someone may intentionally create that odor because I have no pets or children and just moved in.
