Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I purchased a single port sprinkler timer last year to water my raised bed garden. Purchased product from walmart hwy. 49, gulfport, ms 39501. Set up and proframmed timer in or around august 2015. Product worked fine for a few days, then noticed it was stuck in the on position for seversl automatic timer periods. Disconnected and returned to walmart, only had dual port available at exchange time. Piuchased dual port timer. Set up and programmed. Left for one week on vacation came back at night upon going out the next evening noticed timer was on and went back out a few jours later noticed it still on. Turned off watet supply. Later tried to resolve issue, changed batteries, reprogrammed and watched it. It came on and off as programmed.for a few days. Later noticed it stick in open position again. Turned watet off. Called orbit was asked to send timer in, and copies of my watet bill prior to and after use of timer, original bill was approx. 39.00 then and increased as high as 220.00, received lettet they found the timer to be working properly and would be mailing it back to me. In the mean time i went back to walmart and putchased another single port timer, but by this time my garden was totally ruined. Called orbit today 2 17 2016 regarding reimbursement of excessive water bill was informed by risk management that they had no intentions to pay me because they tested the product and it worked fine. Said owner is an attorney and he said not to pay me. Please help me recover my losses due to the failure of this product because it was high only during this time period. My neighbor can attest to the fact that they saw it running more than normal several time but could not reach me because my cell phone was out of order and i was awaiting my new one to be shipped out to me.   • The strange thing is my water bills show an very specific increade in usafe only during tge months the two timers were in place. So why did it go back to normak after removing the timer. Water meters dont lie.

4. Pay me for my time: hour trying to resolve this matter, returns to walmart, purchasing another timer while i waited on them. Mar 03, 2016 $250.00

The claimant's settlement terms were rejected with the following explanation:
  • I disagree with the explanation / grounds provided

    "We are sorry to hear about the issue. For that reason, we had requested the timer from Ms. Caviness. We received the requested timer and tested the timer thoroughly with multiple water pressure and found that it functions properly. The product functions properly in both manual and auto mode and does not leak. Therefore, without further evidence of failure, it can only be concluded that the failure was not caused by the timer."

  • I should  have been more diligent in my research than I did. I am experiencing the same issues with customer service as this customer with a product issue. Tried to send them an email via their "Contact Us" link and it doesn't work. Than tried the on line chat but all it says is that they are helping others and be patient. I was patient for ten minutes than disconnected. Will take product back to store.
