Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"In 1991 we had our sprinkler system with eight stations installed by a company that eventually went out of business and then we connected with Smitty's Sprinkler's on Smoky Hill in Aurora.. We have been very happy with the service they have provided for many years with no complaints..
On Sunday August 5th 2012, my husband discovered that station five had never shut off and was running all night.. In panic mode he called Smitty's FOR ADVICE on how to shut it off. Unfortunately, he got the answering service.. Got the phone number to Metropolitan Sprinklers from a flyer that was left on our front door..
He was told to turn the water off at the valve, and they would be out the next day to repair the problem.. At this point my husband felt committed and told them to come out.. They came out on Monday August 6th 2012 fixed station five then notced that stations seven and eight were not working... They were very nice and said the parts were not available but would call us the next day to continue the repair.. the bill for that day was $340.00 and we never heard back..
After waiting 3 days my husband called Smitty's Sprinklers and they came out on Friday August 10th, 2012 to inspect the system for repair only to find that the work done by Metropolitan was shoddy and worse than expected... plus when he found out how much we were charged, he immediately called Smitty's and they suggested we file a claim to get at least some of the money back, as it was overpriced by their standards....
We are seniors and on Social Security, and although the people from Metropolitan were very nice, we feel they took advantage of us and charged us too much.. They said the $340.00 included senior discount which is hard to believe because the work was not completed, the work that was done was not quality work, and we have to pay Smitty's now to do the job correctly.. We are not happy and unfortunately would never recommend Metropolitan.."
