Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I brought my daughter in for an infected ingrown toenail Last March 13. The Dr who treated my daughter complained about how unhappy she was at work and stated that she was leaving, mentioned that the new health program was corrupted, etc. She then did a procedure on removing the nail that was causing the infection. Two weeks later I returned and complained that my daughter's toe was still infected and I requested an antibiotic. The doctor said that antibiotics don't do anything for a toe and told me to soak her toe. I claimed that we were soaking 3 times as directed and she said to soak it five times a day.

After realizing that she didn't have interest in helping my daughter I called another doctor for help. I told the new Doctor my daughter's problem. He was appalled I was denied an antibiotic and when viewing my daughters toe he said there was no option but to cut away the infected flesh and redo the painful procedure. When doing the procedure he had found toe nail that was left in the infected flesh that the other did not properly clean out all the way when cutting the nail off and pulling it out from the flesh.

I feel that I should NOT pay $450 a second time plus the $35 co pay I paid twice with having to pay for it a second time from it not being taken care off the first time. This was very painful for my daughter and it caused her to not trust the new doctor and caused a lot of emotions.

Given this big concerning problem, I have been trying to reach out for someone to help me resolve this and the Mercy Family Medicine is ignoring my calls. I'm appalled that not only did my daughter become a malpractice guest, they are also ignoring me. You would think they would at least apologize to my daughter for causing extra pain and for not caring.

I feel that they are going to hide from my calls and hope and wait for my hefty bill to hit collections. This has caused me to lose faith in this practice and has made me feel sad about this issue being ignored."
