Claimant says:
"I own a Explorist 710 handheld GPS and the screen cracked. I tried getting with the company to get the screen repaired. After a couple of phone calls I was told that I could send it in and get a replacement (refurbered) for $320. A new unit can be bought for $399. Then they will refurb my unit and turn around and sell it to another victim.

I believe that the repair should cost me, but not what almost a new unit would be."

  • Mr. Goff,

    Thank you for reaching out to us. Our policy and warranty as it pertains to broken screens is as follows:

    "Magellan will replace receivers with a broken display returned within the warranty period with a reconditioned unit of the same or comparable model at a reduced cost to customer. Customers with a broken display unit returned outside the warranty period will be given the opportunity to purchase a new unit at a reduced cost or reconditioned unit also at a reduced cost."

  • A refurbished product should not cost as much as a brand new items. The quality of products made has gone down the toilet. Back in the day when purchasing products, insurance was really not needed because the product would last for years. Disagree with Magellan.
