Claimant says:
"Bought a vehicle in "as is" condition. were told the vehicle was a discontinued 2002 Land Rover model. Paid $5000. The vehicle was a lemon. Within 6 months had to have extensive work done ($5500) at the Land Rover dealership. Were told that this vehicle should not have been sold, it was known to be a lemon, the chances of the vehicle being reliable were so low. Two salesmen were there heard me state that my son and I were alone in Texas, knew NO ONE, I had previously had work done on my Honda van and believed that I could trust this dealership. Shortly after the first expense the vehicle, again, needed extensive repairs ($3500). I went to another Honda dealer and was told that I needed to speak to Huggins and give them a chance to make it right. The time frame was approximately 18 months. I finally did go to Huggins and spoke to the manager who listened patiently, told me he would consider my issue and get back to me. This was several months ago. I have heard nothing and now the vehicle has again cost approximately $2500. I am retired and really feel that I have been cheated on this vehicle. I am quite aware that this has gone on much too long for any satisfaction in this matter. However when the second Land Rover dealer recently told my son,again, that this vehicle should NEVER have been sold and no reputable dealer would have sold it. I guess you can imagaine that I am upset and definitely feel this dealer did not act in good faith from the very beginning. I am sure this vehicle was taken in trade and it was researched and I believe the customer would have a reasonable expectation that a dealership evaluates the vehicles they take in and there is a reasonable expectation on the part of the customer that the dealer would act in good faith. Again, I trusted them. I appreciate your time."

  • Huggins responded and indicated they had requested to see the vehicle before making a decision (see their response below) That is totally not correct. The gentleman I spoke with indicated "I will take this discussion under consideration and let you know what I decide". Obviously I never heard from them. Now they want me to call them. The vehicle is in Florida, my son moved and towed the car behind the moving vehicle, he has had to have an additional $1300. work done on it. And again was told that it should never have been sold to anyone... I am in Illinois right now and do plan to call them but must handle some family issues first.
