Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Over the past several years, Heavenly Mountain Condo Association has made multiple calls to DiirecTV requesting that you remove all your unused satellite dishes.

We were told each time that this could, and would, be done when new equipment was being installed, and that a note had been made in the system.

However, to this point, no abandoned/unused dishes have been removed.

At this point, some of these dishes have become a liability and we must consider banning installation of any new equipment at the complex. Before we take this step, we would like to give you one last chance to verify current service to each dish and remove ALL abandoned/unused dishes.

We will meanwhile hold DirecTV responsible for any damage or injury caused by abandoned equipment.

In our view, DirecTV's 'moving house' instructions, which enable it to retain customers, are irresponsible when it comes to multiple housing and may cause unsightly and potentially hazardous proliferation of satellite dishes.

"Take your receivers and remotes to your new home.
Your TVs, DIRECTV receivers and remotes must be at your new home during
the installation. You can leave your dish at your old home.""

  • Thank you for contacting us on PeopleClaim. I understand you have a concern regarding old dishes and I can clarify this for you. It is never our intention for misunderstandings to occur; however, DIRECTV does not remove dishes. The dishes that are installed are the property of the account holder when the installation is completed and the work order signed. We are not responsible for the removal of a tenant property from your location.

We do not require customers to take an old dish when they move because we will provide them a new one at the new location. It would be up to your tenant to make sure that their installation is within the guidelines of their renter’s agreement for the property.
While DIRECTV doesn't participate in disputes between dish owners and homeowners' associations or government bodies, we hope you find the following information useful:

Section 207 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 required the Federal Communications Commission to issue rules prohibiting restrictions by zoning boards, homeowners' associations, and similar organizations that keep a viewer from getting video programming services with the DIRECTV System and other direct broadcast satellite dishes.
For more information, visit our web site at directv.com/fcc.

If you have a concern with any dishes on your property, you will need to contact your tenant regarding this matter.

    Thank You,

    Rebecca
