Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"This company took advantage of my wife and me. We entrusted them with over $12,000 worth of furnishings, clothes, appliances and valuables. We received a token amount and a very poor accounting .
Thank you for your interest and help. My wife and I are in our late 70s.
This person should be put in jail for theft,

Sincerely,
Alan & Lenore Cohen"

  • Add your informatioWe feel that Mr. Cohen is having trouble in his understanding of how an estate sale works. We enter the home (after the client moves out) clean, organize, display and price everything inside the home. We attempt to sell everything we possibly can for a percent of the gross. The cleaner and newer the contents of the house, the more monies both parties make from the estate sale.

Mr. Cohen’s personal property contents were approximately 20-30 years old of used furniture. Also, cigarettes had been smoked inside the home. Under those poor conditions, were still able to sell his personal property, but at a discounted rate.

We always strive to make this transition in life an easy one for all parties. We even lowered our final percentage for his sale, to asset Mr. Cohen with his revenue troubles. He had been retired for years now.

We are sincerely upset and hurt that Mr. Cohen is unhappy with our services along with all we did to liquidate his personal property. We always attempt to do the very best for all our clients. We have tried to communicate with Mr. Cohen on several occasions, but he does not seem to comprehend “used furniture” values.

We have been in business for over 14 years in the Central Florida area. We handle 40-45 estate sales annually. We also have a huge list of happy past clients. We wish Mr. Cohen well in his future.

We have been sending both e-mail and postal mail back and forth answering these same questions several times.

Mr. Cohen omitted to state on his complaint that he had not paid the electric bill, so on the morning of our arriving to conduct the sale, the electricity was turned off and we had to pay for it to be put back on. (Again, in the contact it states that electricity be left on until the end of the sale.)

We always strive to make this transition in life an easy one for all parties. Before hiring us for his sale, Mr. Cohen was very concerned that he was hiring the correct company, so he called several of my past clients and spoke to them directly about our services. He was so impressed by what my past clients had to say about our services. Their praise is why he made the decision to hire us (in his own words).

We also lowered our final percentage for his sale, so he could make more monies, since he has to leave his house because of his revenue troubles. He seemed like a nice guy and we wanted to help him out in any way possible.
