Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I contracted with this man after my seven month pregnant wife and our, at the time, three kids (two of whom are fosters) lost the use of our home because of a home flood. He contracted with me under the company name Catastrophe Recovery Services, although the only employee of his that came to the house as a representative for Catastrophe Recovery Services worked for a company allegedly called "B Construction". Neither of these company names come up in the BBB list when I tried to search them. Javier was contracted to be the GC (general contractor) of my project. He brought in his own employees to perform nearly every trade on the project. Flooring, paint, drywall, framing, HVAC, contents pack-up and removal, contents pack-in (bringing the home goods back in to the home), plumbing (to an extent) were handled by his people. One man only worked at my house for much of the project. As a result of Javier's work I was left with unsightly flooring finishes, a leaking upstairs toilet, a leaking and poorly attached upstairs vanity, a chemical leaking air bleeding HVAC system that wastes money, energy and endangers my family, paint stained floors and finish cabinets, an odd cut in my crown molding, closet cabinets that don't close properly, and broken furniture items including a princess vanity that I got my wife as a Christmas present and our king sized bed and end table and tall dresser (those were just marred beyond repair) that were perfectly fine until he and his crew got a hold of them. Not everything he did was terrible. The paint job is pretty good as far as wall coverage goes and the carpet seems to be holding up pretty well it's the laminate flooring that is so unsightly. He did an okay job of framing the wall in the living room and also the ceiling as far as I can tell right now, although I didn't get to see what he did inside the wall before he buttoned it up. Time will tell. Now the HVAC is my main concern. It emits a bad chemical smell from the furnace unit and blows more cold air out of the furnace housing cabinet than any vent in my home. It's an ongoing problem as well as the laminate flooring and he refuses to return my calls or text messages. Keep in mind that he also agreed to refinish my handrail for the stair case and he instead had "a guy" spray white spray paint all over a poorly sanded already painted (black) hand rail that is peeling and becoming worse by the month. The job was not done on time and my family and I had to finish the job in the end of scraping paint off of our finished floors and cabinets and dealing with terribly installed AC and Flooring. Javier told me that he was using licensed sub contractors for most of the trades including the flooring, the paint, and the HVAC. It was just his employees the whole time. Now that I have a problem I can't contact the "contractors" who did the work because they all work for Javier as employees not contractors. So he ignores my calls, they ignore my calls. No one associated with him will talk to me and his work is a serious issue. Please help."
