Claimant says:
"I entered into an agreement with Jose Raul Castillo, of Castillo Improvements located at 5684 Brackenwood Dr, Spring Hill, Fl 34609, tel # 352-678-1712 to do a remodeling job on my property in Spring Hill Fl. The job consisted of removing and replacing tiles in the bathroom, family room, and kitchen with the removal of the kitchen cabinets. New tiles were to be installed in the bathroom, kitchen, family room and hallway, with the floor in the lanai leveled and tiled. The house was to be painted and new doors and trim changed. I paid him $300 for trim which he never delivered, but he kept. After receiving $5500 in payment he called me and said that the family room, kitchen and hallway were painted and to come down to Florida from New York so that we could set the tile pattern. Upon arrival to Florida I was shocked to find that nothing was painted, the floor was not ready for tiles as it was not even cleaned of old material. The entire house, furniture, cabinets were covered with dust as nothing was protected. After I called him as to what is going on, he said “I am finished and not coming back”. Upon further checking I found out that he is not licensed and that he should have gotten a permit for the work, but never did. He did some electric and the entire thing had to be ripped out and replaced as it was not done as per national electric code. A 2’x8’ wall was installed and was off by 1.5” vertically and ¾” out of straight continuation line. Some plumbing was so bad that the entire thing had to be replaced."
