Ms. Graham has tried through the Illinois Attorney General office, different attorneys as well as other avenues to try to make Black Lane Auto responsible for things that had nothing to do with the work preformed. The following is in reverse order of a conversation held through email between her and Black Lane Auto:
Add yourOne thing is incorrect. You did bring you car back. Your computer system popped up a code for a transmission solenoid which is a part we did not work on and is not something we work on. As I explained earlier to you, we send those types of problems to transmission shops. That is exactly what you did. You took it to AAMCO in Fairview Heights and they did a repair on your transmission. it was completely separate from the engine. in my last conversation with the attorney general I did tell her that you brought the car back. I did tell her about AAMCO and the repair they did as well as the other repairs AAMCO did. I did noT deny that you car came back. Originally I did. I then investigated further and figured out it did come back. I talked to Patterson towing and AAMCO . Again your car came back for a transmission code problem. AAMCO fixed that. You need to read my last correspondence to you. It explains everything. Just because worked was preformed on your car does not make us responsible for everything that goes wrong. A transmission is not the engine. The EVAP system is not the engine. The exhaust and catalytic converter is not the engine.

You claimed I did not bring the vehicle back to your shop but I am having problems with my car due to it your engine installation. I do think you are ripping me off, I will discuss this matter with an attorney and report this matter to the media as well. I never had any problems with my old engine and my aunt was going to bring her vehicle to get another engine put in but because of this she is going someone else. You told the Illinois Attorney's General Office my vehicle was not your shop on 3/17/14 which is not true, I am entitled to a refund because I talked to a mechanic and he advised me the check engine light should not come as frequently AS IT WAS. This is not an unhappiness issue but a shoddy work issue.

Ms Graham,
I have spoken with the attorney general's office. I have also spoken with the repair facilities. I have relayed the information to the attorney general. The catalytic converter system you have brought up is not part of the engine assembly. It does connect through the exhaust system but is not part of the engine. I did verify that you did in fact bring your car back after the engine was installed. Your computer system in your car sent out a code for a transmission solenoid which is something we did not work on. For any transmission repairs, we send those out to transmission shops for their expertise. You picked your vehicle up and took it to AAMCO Transmissions. AAMCO told me that they fixed a solenoid in your transmission that had trigger a “check engine” lamp. Another problem you had AAMCO fix is in the EVAP system which is at the other end of the car by the fuel tank and has nothing to do with the engine. It does have a part in the emissions system and computer control systems but not the engine itself. There are many systems in your car that can trigger a “check engine” light. Just because a “check engine” lamp comes on does not mean that it is in the engine. Again that does not mean the engine. Just because we replaced the engine, it does not mean that we are responsible for every thing that goes wrong with your car from there on out. Again there are many systems in your car that can trigger a “check engine” light but have nothing to do with the engine itself.
I would also like for you to understand that you purchased a used engine for $500. You did not purchase a rebuilt engine, nor did we tell you you were getting a rebuilt engine. You paid $500 for the engine, $600 for the labor of installing the engine and $36.75 in state sales tax for a total of $1136.75.
I am sorry that you are unhappy. As far as the Attorney General is concerned, this case is closed. As far as I am concerned, this case is closed.
Also you have called a couple of times in the past couple of days. I have returned calls and left a message for you. You have also called and when the call was transferred to me, you have ended the call. I am aware of you trying to contact me and I have tried to contact you back and take your calls.

My name is Shemonika Graham and I filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Office against your company. I paid $1136 for a rebuilt engine and I picked up my car from your shop on 3/14/14, but the next day less than 24 hours later my check engine came on. I had my 2001 Plymouth Neon towed to your shop on 3/17/14 from my home address ( I have proof from Patterson Towing). My dad was told you do not fix purge solenoid issues and I picked up my car on 3/21/14. My aunt and I had questions about the check engine light and to discuss it with Jeff, he also confirmed your shop did not deal with that issue. I had an appointment with Aamco that caused me over $280 even though I just paid $1136 to your shop. You told the Attorney General I did not bring my car there, which is false. I have number to the tow shop I used to tow my vehicle and he verified it was at your shop plus you talked to my dad. I have filed a complaint with the BBB also. I have paid $1627 to fix errors associated with the rebuilt engine. I have asked for a refund multiple times and I also can contact the local media to let them know about this. I just want this matter resolved so I can move on, I am off work tomorrow so I can come up to the shop to discuss it. I was even told by Dobbs I may want to buy another car because every since your shop put that rebuilt engine, I have had multiple problems with check engine lights and parts being loose on my car. Calverts, Aamco, and Dobbs all say I should not have these types of problem since there is a rebuilt engine that is less than 1 year old. I am willing to settle this matter but I want this to be over ASAP. information here
