Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"The worst experience of my life to date!!
NITEMARE in Mountainhome....

I brought my 2006 Toyota Rav4 in for a transmission repair not knowing that Barry Sommers is a totally incompetent mechanic. Being a Master ASE Certified Tech and A Pa State Inspector I should have realized not seeing any credentials displayed. He has destroyed my vehicle, he quoted me $2,500. to overhaul my transmission. He had my vehicle for a month!! He had my transmission out twice, replaced two computers (which were not bad in the first place)he did not give a damn, knowing that I am an outside sales rep and I depend on my vehicle for my livelihood, (They do not offer a loner vehicle.) He then surprised me with an addition charge of $525.00 for a junk yard computer, $525. which he knew I didn't have. They knew I had to borrow money from a family member and would not release my vehicle unless I gave them some form of collateral, so I had no choice and gave him my pressure washer as collateral. I drove off and to my dismay, I had NO 3rd gear, after the vehicle sat for a couple of hours and got “cold” it delayed 10-15 seconds before it banged into reverse, the transmission still was not fixed!! AFTER A MONTH...WOW!!!

I had no choice (or money) so I brought it back so he could try to fix it. He put another junk yard computer in (are we keeping count of how many computers he’s burning up here) and messed with the valve body ( pretty much the brain of the transmission) gave it back to me said it was fixed. I drove away and within a mile the transmission was not shifting right again and the banging into reverse continued. The check engine light came on, I scanned it and found the code P0606 which means the ECU(computer) is at fault, so I called Thea who is Barry's partner in crime and she told me oh yeah it had that code before? WHAT?!?! so she advised me to bring it back when I can leave it for another two weeks so they can try to fix it again ?!?!?! This faulty computer was dumping fuel which resulted in my catalytic converter failing, this caused me to get stuck on the side of the road in the middle of the night. Need I continue because there's more ! Now I had to peel off another $1400.00 to get the correct ECU and a new converter.

Barry was not willing to get a new computer nor was he willing to cut his (and my) losses and replace my transmission with a good used one so he could make good on his errors. He never showed any sign of remorse or uttered the words “I’m sorry.“ I have called there numerous times asking for a refund of my monies and my pressure washer. I have not received one call to date. They do not care… in my opinion they should not be able to touch anyone’s vehicle. So save yourself the grief and go anywhere else. We are not quite finished dealing with Mr. & Mrs. Sommers."
