Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"3 yrs. ago I bought a central air unit from ARH heating?cooling on Rt. 40, Clayville, Pa. The compressor went out within 2 wks. of installation, and the installer replaced it.. in which it ran for 2 1/2 summers but I had to constantly turn the unit off to thaw out both the indoor & outdoor frozen coils.. 3 mos. ago the installer was called out to replace the compressor for the 3rd time in the 3 yr. period.. this time charging me $340 for lost Freon, shipping, and labor !... I agreed to pay it in full only if the new 3rd one would last thru the summer... It broke down also after 3 mos. now ARH don't want anything to do with it except giving me nos. to call in Texas,, and when we called down there we were told that compressor maker went out of business,, when I called ARH and told him he said I was lied to and gave me the American Supply no. to get the right phone #... He gave me a tech # but warned me in advance I would get the run around and pass the buck back to the installer(ARH),, the same way that ARH passed the buck to them.. The consumer protection Agency and an attorney also informed us that if we were mailing our payments for the unit to the ARH address, then they are responsible for not only repairing or making sure it's replaced (for the 4th time in 3 yrs.)and not giving us out of state numbers to call for replacement or reimbursement,, which ARH should be standing behind the product and poor people on social security or anyone else for that matter that trusted this business to stand behind their product which has over 142 online customer complaints about the same particular product, but none about the merchant/installer acting like it's our problem, not theirs. This is just my first step in getting the customer satisfaction we so deserve !"

  • the address for ARH Heating is RT.40,, Claysville, Pa. email address unavailable

  • I had another reputable HVAC co. inspect the latest compressor and found that ARH took shortcuts including improper system flushing,, didn't perform acid tests and failure to water seal connections in unit.. I have a written proposal from them for $950 or $1600 if acid test fails to properly install the replacement unit, which is again covered by the manufacturer, but they're showing heavy concern as to why these 3 units have failed in 3 yrs. time.. The manufactuer has record of 2nd replacement but not the 1st because ARH didn't turn it in because he had a spare unit at his shop. We want proper compensation for making this matter right

  • Aug 23, 2016, ARH Heating & Cooling (responding party) added:
  • The first time the compressor went out within two weeks we replaced the whole condensing unit under warranty, no charge. Three months ago I went out and replaced the compressor. The unit only has a one year labor warranty. I charged him for Freon, shipping and labor $340.00. I found that he had the front door off of the furnace and the door has to be on so that the air flow will be drawn over the coil that is on the top of the furnace to keep the unit from freezing up. I really don't know what he wants to do.

  • Aug 23, 2016, Claiming party added:
  • Fred was told twice that day the door was open from me looking for a reset switch when unit broke down,, I looked for reset switch after I found the breakers ok..he knew he cut corners in both installations, as proven by the other installer, who also laughed at the thought of a partially open door causing a brand new unit to blow out.. Why didn't the manufacturer have record of the first failure and just the second one,, they'd like to know that more than me.. I don't know how much plainer it can be that you installed 2 new units in a 3 yr. period and both failed, and won't back up your work,,, I really don't need to say more that I learned from all this, unless this is cleaned up, I won't have a choice... The 3rd new unit was covered and sitting down Texas under warranty waiting for you do do the right thing and either get it here and install it correctly, or refund us the cost of the unit I paid for. Thats as fair as it is

  • ARH has only responded once in several months to this claim and I just noticed on one of our community sites that several more people in our area are complaining about the same issues I had in my claim. I have had my unit inspected and have documentation showing that it was in fact not installed correctly. I have a written request from the manufacturer asking who my installer was.. If indeed I'm forced to pursue this legally I will also supeona 2 people that made me promise not to repeat what they told me due to business matter but myself and my attorney feel that it'll be good for a judge to hear. I have a strong case due to overwhelming evidence against ARH.. When I add up the costs for everything that led to this I believe that if he settles with me for $1,500 he's getting off pretty easy when he considers he'll also be sued for legal fees,, the ballpark figure I was given by the attorney was almost double that amount... I am not going away ARH,, if I take you to court I'm going in to win...$1,500,, take it or leave it
