Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"This bank is taking me to collections after they closed my account and told me I was no longer a valuable customer. Yet continued to collect fees from me. Locked me completely out of my accounts, froze all my funds yet on a frozen account allowed my ss deposit to go through and picked and chose what bills they paid from it. Then when I tried to get my check they said the checks in the mail. Till this day I have not received the rest on my check less of course their fees. I feel I was totally hosed. The reason for all this had started as a check that my girl friend had brought to me and asked me to cash. I said ok this is the best I can do for you is to deposit it and after it clears I can get you your money. So that's what I did. Like I always do. I put it in the bank. That's all I did. Then wow all hell broke loose. My account was frozen. I got a call from the banks security people asking me about this check. I told them all I new. Then 1 guy proceeded to tell me I will not longer be able to do business with wells Fargo and that I have had 31 over drafts in 1 year and I'm no longer a valuable customer. Then hung up the phone. In shock I stood there shaking my head and wondering what the heck just happened. Thats when it all began. I called right back and I was told we cant help you . They were no longer able to talk to me over the phone. So I had to go to the bank mysellf. So I did and I was told that as soon as I deposited that check that I took on liability of it. I said how can that be I didnt cash it or anything all I did was deposit it. They said we dont cash 3 party checks and I said really since when? She said its been that way for awhile know. I said bull hocky. I just deposited one a couple days ago. This happened in march and in this year alone I have deposited 5 3rd party checks. So I dont get how come I am just now finding out this.. I then asked who gets to pick and choose what 3rd party check they cash and which ine they dont. She didnt like that. Then told me in a nut shell that there really wasn't anything i could do about it that it was in the hands of the loss and prevention department and that as soon as she was able to find out more then she would be able to help me better. I was getting hit left and right by my bill pay account not being paid and the fees started to grow. Well I pay everything with bill pay. I get paid once a month and the bills go out. Locked frozen noda. It was to0 late in the month for me to stop my direct deposit for going into that account. The bank said they will let the come through. Of course because now I have acquired fees and they want their fees. I asked the lady how and what do I do. I can't afford all these fees and how do I get my check. She said to come back on the 3rd of the next month and not to worry I am sure we can remove the fees and then you can talk to the manager and they might be able to keep your account. So I left lost and angry and very confused on how this could be happening. I am not a dishonest person and I had no intent of tryng to get one over on the bank that I worked so hard to keep my name good with. I had some hard times in the past that set my account 1000s in the - so I closed my account and for 2 to 3 years I have made monthly payments out of my ss to clear this matter up. Well upon clearing it up I was able to reopen my account with wells fargo. All was going good again I had opened up a pre paid visa through wells fargo and after one year of on time payments I received my deposit back. Perfect all was going good in the right direction and no only did I clear my account with well fargo I made it better and stronger. NOT because I did not do anything that I did not do on a weekly basis. I had always deposited 3 rd party checks. Now im not longer a valued customer. Ouch. I know i am not rich but I have more heart, honesty and integrity then any of them will ever have. You're a company stand with in your policy. For everyone. Not just who you choose. The sum of it all is that after this I was unable to get my money I can no longer use online bill pay for a couple of my bills and I lost my checking account my saving account my credit card account and one more of my other cred card accounts. Know I dont know if they're linked but I received cancellation of my other account on the same day I relieved wells Fargo cancellation. I even had trouble at the car rental place because the card I had always used was a prepaid card only for the first year so then it became credit I did not know that you had to have that to rent a car. Pre paid I thought was good enough. NOT so you can see that a lot had spiraled from this crap. Let me tell you I will never do that again Yet the bank dont feel it at all. They turned my financial world upside down."

  • Did they provide any reason / justification for closing your account? Then when your account was closed, did they provide you a way to get the funds you had in the account?
