Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I contacted Matt Barnes, owner of Barnes Limousine Service, for my son's prom on May 3, 2014. I am extremely dissatisfied with this company and the service provided for my son and his group of 10 16-17 year old teenagers. My contract did state that the above named company would get us to prom and home from prom. He did do that, but not without several mishaps (which he repetitively stated were not in the signed contract). He stated that nothing was their fault; it was all out of their control. I have owned a business in the Pgh area for 30 years, and I always make sure our customers are satisfied so they will continue on as our customers. Our experience started with the limo driver being 45 minutes late to our high school for pick up. Our vice principal was kind enough to let the group stay inside the school because it was storming! He opened up the gym and let them play basketball. Once the limo arrived, we discovered that the sunroof was open meaning the interior of the limo was extremely wet. The driver had nothing to wipe the seats with, so we, the parents and a very angry grandparent, had to wipe up the mess. Once the group was on its way to the prom venue, they were thirsty. They went to the cooler to get some waters and it was empty! I am aware that drinks are not included in the contract! That was mentioned several times by the owner, Matt Barnes. It is my experience with other limo companies in the Pgh area, that the limo is always stocked with water for the passengers to drink. Not the case this particular day. The limo driver then got lost on the way! I'm sure all limos are equipped with GPS. Perhaps not this one, it was extremely old! We were contracted a 12 person, Lincoln Towne Car. Nope, not what we got! We got a very old Ford Excursion. Once our kids reached their destination, after 6pm, they were searched and questioned by security and chaperones because they were late. The teens were embarrassed to be searched. Prom hours were 5:15pm until 10:30pm. My contract was from 4:30 until 11:15. After the Prom, the limo was waiting for the group in the parking lot. The passengers then proceeded to get into the limo and there was a bottle of Admiral Nelsons spiced rum, half full.
The driver did at that point tell them, "Do not touch the alcohol". Once in route back to school, they went into the cooler for water, and still NO water! But, there were two unopened cans of beer. My credit card was charged the full amount a week before the services were rendered. I do not recommend this company for so many reasons. After expressing my anger, I received an email from Matt Barnes, owner, that I would be refunded for 30 minutes of our contracted time. I was not satisfied with his attempts to resolve this situation. I should have been compensated much more from Barnes Limousine for my very disappointing experience. Our children had an awful experience, yes, they will remember their prom, but not for just the dance, but all the other incidents that occurred that day! I encourage others looking for a limo for a special event to contact another company. Perhaps you should suggest that Barnes Limo add a amenities to the contract. Otherwise, you probably will not get dry seats, treated with respect, water, or arrive to your destination on time. I was treated poor, as were the passengers in the limo. Very disrespectfully."
