Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"On August 15, 2011, I received a telephone call at home from my former Human Resource Consultant and Associate Director to inform me that a decision was made to end my eight years of employment with Verizon Wireless effective as of August 12, 2011 due to; what was described as “violation of the company’s confidentiality policy”. A policy I believe that I have been wrongfully accused and was not presented during the time of my termination. After further research performed by me, I am unable to find this policy.
It was determined by my Director that I divulged critical confidential information to another Verizon Wireless employee and without the benefit of a company review board; the decisions were made to terminate my employment with the company.
I need to understand why the employer didn't extend some degree of fairness in the decision to terminate my employment. During my 8 years of tenure, I have not had any misconduct prior to the last few months of my employment. Within the last few months of my employment with the company, I was being accused of thoughtless allegations without given no prior reasons to believe I could participate in such acts. I was one that was presented with many awards and gainfully promoted 4 times within my 8 years tenure from a customer service representative > analyst/account liaison> consultant > supervisor and then to a manager role. I was known to be very passionate about the work that I performed and pretty much worked in my own solo with my teams. I feel the allegations that were presented against me we unjustifiable and wasn't done in a fair dealing. I'm unsure as to who co-signed my director's decision. It all happened so fast. Typically, the final decision to approve a termination would be of the main Human Resources at the headquarter office and usually you would have to have a file so thick before approval is granted. I believe this was an act that was handled in-house, or other untruthful allegations may have been presented that I may be unaware of. I thought I could put all this behind me and gain a fresh start when I relocated, but I have this strange feeling that just won't go away. My unemployment benefits were delayed for over a month, until the Unemployment Division within the Department of Labor determined insufficient evidence has been presented to show any misconduct in connection with the work and the circumstances surrounding the separation do not warrant a disqualification of the Maryland Unemployment Insurance Law.
