Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"THE REPRESENTATIVES at the Verizon Store in Sylva were negligent in customer service in the areas of: disclosure, honesty, sales and coverage.
We left ATT (after I had been with them since 1997) and paid an early termination fee, having been told that "Verizon has the BEST COVERAGE in North Carolina." At Verizon, the first representative of that company was AUSTIN. Austin, the Verizon representative, told us flat out that our "fee" was "only 80$ per month" having neglected to mention, although asked about other fees, the "40$basic fee" which totaled $120 per month plus taxes. We implored upon him our desire and need to save money on our cell plans, as we would not be using them as we had in Flrida. Additionally, we were told, upon asking, what the difference was between prepaid and contract and TWO representatives stated prepaid coverages were "at the bottom of the totem pole for tower coverage, so you won't get as good as service." Then, at the advice of the 2nd representative, he changed our plan to 700 minute shared plan WITHOUT informing us, nor did Austin, that our "home phone for just 20$ a month" SHARED the 700 minutes.
Our current bill this month is $360 & change. I specifically asked: does the house phone share the minutes? Are you able to cut off usage if overages occur (told yes), is the coverage good with prepaid? What is the BEST way to save money? Also, that we were paying an ETF with ATT. I asked Austin at LEAST 30 questions covering everything from Data, Minutes, Coverage, Fees, Taxes, Cell phones, Towers and more.
I think Verizon should be ashamed for making claims that are false, for not giving FULL disclosure (and please be assured, leaving Cingular/Belle South/ATT was a difficult move - I asked EVERY question possible, with my husband on the phone with me.) So, add the $235 ETFee, the overage charges/bill of $360 and I've already met almost a year's worth of prepaid plans. How can a company feel good about itself when I had to call them after the FIRST bill showing the $40, when no one said one word about it? We had just moved to NC and these people "represent Sylva." (see the web article on how great they tout their reputation for "knowing Western North Carolina."
Sincerely,

ALLI & BRAD FLECKE"
