Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I shipped a working electronic and insured it for a used item price to be replaced. It was shipped UPS ground from Baltimore to Simpsonville SC insured for $200. I tracked it delivered to the the door and notified my recipient that it was outside and she had been home on that day. My daughter, the recipient said that she hadn't seen or heard the driver that day and couldn't find the package anywhere outside. I followed the claim process, provided the original receipt and UPS conducted their investigation by going out to the delivery address. This is evidently a theft either local or by UPS. UPS turned down the claim standing by their policy that a signature wasn't needed. So where was the knock on the door, since someone was home. What happened to drivers not leaving packages in unsafe areas. This house sits on a high traffic road. and this is not right. I was using UPS for all of my shipping and canceled my account.. I didn't sign a release to leave the package, I just didn't pay for a delivery requiring a signature. I attempted to make a report to the police, but they don't handle this kind of theft. So that is where I am at. I replaced the equipment, since it was a present to grandchild and now am out my money and shipping cost. I have come across the drivers in the past with UPS, scanning wrong packages at the wrong address. An incident happened in MD, but the package was found and delivered. My daughter even was asked to sign a statement that she did not receive the package when UPS sent an investigator to the delivery address. So, why do I bother to insure it without the signature required if it is useless in a claim?"

  • I do not accept this response and making the issue public. I have only your word the package was left. How do I know your driver didn't scan it and leave it somewhere else, or it your driver did something else with it. I canceled my account already as a UPS shipper and will never use the service as a shipper again. Maybe it was the area, but I don't make claims as a habit. In this case, UPS needs to exam other internal issues.

  • This is not resolving the issue and I don't except this answer. You are only stating your policies, but I was told first that the claim was approved and to expect a check upon submitting documentation of the value of claim. Then, my claim is denied. This will be public viewing after the 12th of May. I pursuing help on the issue with other resources.
