Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Hello, our names is Magnolia Hampton and Ray Hampton. We are mother and son. On Saturday September 13, 2014 we went to Thrifty Auto Sales of Memphis on Covington Pike under the impression that we would be getting good deal on a late model car. We both signed a contact for a car on Saturday September 13, 2014. Our sales person was Alexis Hart. We paid a down payment of $500. Then when it was time us to go home with the car we was told by Aaron Wright said that we needed to have insurance to have the car released to us. It was late around 7:30 pm and we couldn't get no one on the phone with the insurance company. So we had to leave without the car. We were told just fax in proof of insurance and proof of income and the car will be released to us. Thrifty Auto Sales was closed on Sunday the 14th. We called back on Monday the 15th. When we called back, we said that we wanted our money back. The reason is cause the interest is 14% the car was $16,000 and with that interest made the car to be over $25,000. We feel that is just too much to pay for a 2012 Honda Civic with 38,000 miles. They didn't even provide us a Carfax report when we asked for it multiple times. They were saying that we can't get the money back, because we signed paperwork That doesn't make any sense when we didn't leave with the car or turn in our proof income to them. That would make the deal incomplete. So when, Ray Hampton got off of work on Monday the 15th he went to Thrifty and tried to talk to someone about getting the money back. He was told that have to come back tomorrow and talk the owner about getting the money back. We feel that we are not getting treated fairly by Thrifty Auto Sales of Memphis with all of this run around. Are they that hard up for $500, that they will try to ruin our credit and waste our time. We don't have the car, it's still there with Thrifty Auto on their car lot. Our first payment is not due until October 28, 2014. We are not satisfied at all with how this matter is going with them. We just want the $500 that we paid down on the car back and this not to end up on our credit."
