Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"My husband travelled on Spirit Airlines on Saturday May 26th 2010, My sister bought tickets for us for our Aniversary to Fort Lauderdale Florida for the week-end we were booked on flight 877 outbound and flt. 404 on our return ATL-FLL-ATL. our PNR (CYNSWA)

We checked in online and they ask us if we were checking any bags we said no.
we printed our boarding pass at home and went to the airport, we were not aware
that spirit Airlines charges for carry on bags, because we have never flown spirit Airlines before, while at the gate ready to board the air craft, the Agent said lady you have to pay for you carry on bags because spirit Airlines charges for carry on bags.
I ask how much it would be the agent told me $90.00 because at the gate it's 45.00 per carry on bag. 45.00 for my self and 45.00 for my husband's bag, we told them we did not have $90.00 to pay for our bags.because we have never heard of airlines charging for carry on bags, they called the supervisor and her told the agent to board us. We had no idea at that time they place the charge on her reservation and block us from checking in on line or at the Kiosk. the massage says please see an agent, this happen this morning May 28th,2010 on our way back from our week-end vacation. we approach the agent at the counter she then told me I owe $90.00 for carry on back when we travelled on may 26th, none of this was told to us while we were boarding on Saturday May 26th. all they did was they are going to board us with no explanation. I even told the agent thanks so much for his help.
On our return this morning May 28th we were told that we owe $90.00, the agent told me we had to pay $90.00 plus to check in our bags today we have two choices one was to check our bags on the flight for $76.00 for our 2 bags which makes it $38.oo per bag or we can carry it on and pay $80.00 which is $40.00 per bag. Carry on is more expensive we then at this point had no choice than to pay $166.00 for our bags and check them in on the flight or else the airlines would have never boarded us on the flight. we did not want to pay $170.00 for the carry on which would be consist of 90.00 for our previous outbound flight on may 26th and $80.00, so we choose to check the bags and pay 166.00. I did not have that money but I gave them my debit card which overdrew my account now I will have to pay the bank for, plus an overdraft fee. Spirit did not care about us, the agent did call the supervisor and she said we need to pay or else we can not board, and we would not be able to get a refund because our tickets are non-refundable. Their flight was late going out and late coming back, they do not applogized for been late, neither did they care abour the passenger time, all they care about is collecting. They seat us in seperate seats even though we had the same passenger name record, they told us they can not do anything about the seating, and that is not there fault if we are not siting together. I think spirit airlines is a nickle and dime airlines they take you for all you have, and they dont even give a glass of water if you ask for water you will have to pay 3.00 for it. I would like some one to please look into this matter and I will never fly Spirit Airlines ever again even if they have tickets for $1.00, They made my anniversary a disaster. I am so unhappy with their service I just feel violated to have to come up with money I did not have, my whole was paid for by my family all I had was a little spending money if I needed to buy anything what I had already spent. I really never heard of any Airlines charging for a small pully that fits in the over head, even if they take at the gate because of space they dont ever charge, this was not the case with Spirit Airlines they definitely charge for carry on bags."
