Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"My sister,nephew, and myself bought bus tickets from Santander Travel Agency for $297 US dollars $ 2,200 quetzals and we where headed to visit Tikal Guatemala. They picked us up in the van Tuesday June 17 from Panajachel. The van took us to Guatemala City an exchanged to a bus to go to Flores Guatemala. There we had to make other arrangements to go to the park in Tikal. We had intended to come back June 20 , 11 am and catch the bus in Flores to go back to Guatemala City then back to Panajachel When got to the Flores the next travel agency told us that no buses will leave Tikal in the morning so you will have to call your travel agency and change your time returning on June 20. So we called Santander Travel Agency Wednesday june 18 and told them we had to take the later bus out of Flores. We called them and they said it would be no problem to make the change and said the bus would leave around 7 p.m.to Guatemala City and then back to Panajachel. After visiting Tikal we came into Flores a little after 3 p.m. We then called Santander Travel agency and ask our seats numbers going back. They said we had to go to the bus station and exchange our tickets and we might have a charge. We asked why they didn't make the changes for us and they didn't have a reason why? The reason is because someone from the agency forgot the make the changes for us on the Wednesday when we called. Need less to say we went to the bus station and man taking the tickets said he had to charge us half the fare to go back. I asked if Santander Travel called and he said yes a couple hours ago but it was to late to make change without charging a fee. So I asked the man if he would write a letter telling the agency that and he did which I gave to the Agency later. They charged us $ 37 US dollars to get on the and back to Guatemala City . We bought the last 3 tickets and had to go home on separate buses. When we reached Guatemala City the van that was suppose to pick us up at 6:00 a.m never showed. We called the Agency and they said he should be on his way. We waited 2 1/2 hours and after calling several times asking when our van is coming they had a driver pick us up. I have travel to 22 countries in my life time and never had an experience like this. I got back to the Agency and told them that I wanted my $37 dollars returned to me because of the mistake they made for not changing our bus time on the return trip on Friday (which they had 2 days to do it) and they told me they couldn't do it and showed little concern about me having to pay for their mistake. I believe they acted in an un professional way. All I want is my $37 dollars turned to me. It is the least they could do for all the inconveniences we had.
